HDMI problem

    strange problem :(

    My LCD TV will perfectly display;

    my BlueRay output
    my Media Player output

    through either of two HDMI TV inputs.

    It will work with any one of three different HDMI cables.

    It will display all through the SCART socket, DVD player, Satbox, Media player etc.

    Why will it not display my SAtbox HDMI output ?

    I've tried two different satboxes;

    Ariva 120 Combo)
    ALDI hdmi box.

    How does the TV know what the video source is ?
    How can a TV differentiate one video signal from another ?

    I've tried to understand the HDMI protocol aspects that might affect this, but failed :(

    I've trawled the net for logic ..........
    Much discussion indicating like problems - but all seem to be solved by

    unplugging/plugging/power-down/power-up combimnations etc...

    Tried all that - no progress :(

    The LCD TV is a Goodmans Model GTVL32W17HDF.
    Spec says:

    This Tv can accept High Definition Multimedia Inteface(HDMI)
    This TV supports HDCP Protocol for TV sets (480, 720,1080i)modes.

    Can anybody comment ?

    what are Video setting of these sat boxes?, connect one through scart and hdmi try changing different output modes until hdmi will start working - there is no reason why they should not work, did you check them on another tv?

    You're a genius :)

    I changed the sat box (Ariva 120) video resolution by using the 'opt' button on the remote and it immediately worked for each of it's three resolutions.

    I was relying on it to auto adjust the resolution, but i guess there are maybe timing issues involved. Changing the video by the remote obviously triggered the TV HDMI into action.

    I did not retry with the LIDL box. I think it's only pseudo HDMI in any case and has been out of use now for a quite a while

    Thanks.
    Take a bow :)
