I'll be based in Dublin city center for a week with no car.
Is there anyplace handy to train - e.g. 20/30 min efforts?

As uninterrupted as possible - maybe up to 20 min if possible

cruagh road is close enough to Dublin city centre, depending on your climbing abilities it may not be long enough :) The seafront cycle lane including part of the howth climb would be about 20 minutes but you might get caught at lights. Head out the n3 past finglas and you will get a good 20 minutes uninterupted. N1 past swords is similar. N7 past newlands cross.

I've found it difficult to get uninterupted 15 minute effort in the park. There is a lot of traffic in the morning and evening, so i'm not convinced it would be suitable for 20 minute efforts without having to deal with some sort of obstacle (roundabout, traffic etc). On the plus side, it is in the city centre..

Agree with Lenny. There's nowhere in the Phoenix Park you'd be able to do 15 minute plus efforts. I too use Cruagh Road/Military Road for uphill intervals. Depending on where you start/finish you can do intervals of half an hour or more.

I go out to Meath to do flat ones. The Trim Road is handy for that.

The N1 past Swords is a bit too up and down for really consistent efforts imo. Have tried using it recently for 20 min efforts myself.
