Have my learner permit for 2 year and about to do my ibt and invest in a bike then! Lookin for something 400cc up to 600cc in a sports bike like a cbr etc question is re: insurance and restrictions! Would love a Gsxr 600. I'm 28. What's the chances of getting insured on one or similar without a factory restrictor?

Have you actually ridden any bikes? I quite liked the idea of sports bikes when I started but I found them uncomfortable picky little death rockets after using a couple of them. As a daily driver I wouldn't bother. As a weekend ride maybe.

I'm 6 years in now looking to change my bike and I don't even consider them. My named twin cylinder 650cc is more then enough to kill me.

There's only 4 companies that insure bikes. You'll find out in less than 5 minutes if you contacted them.

For something like a GSXR 600 you would probably only get insured first year if you got a liberty rider assessment level 2 during your IBT on a similar bike...... If you've never ridden much before, that's gonna be almost impossible.

Just did a mock up for insurance on Libertys website.... No quote which means the actual quote would be ridiculous if you rang them.... if they'd insure you at all.

A 600 sports bike mightn't be a good starter they are a hand full. Why not a look a a bandit, hornet, cbr f or an sv?
Best thing to do is get your IBT and talk to an instructor. It'd a pain cos you cannot really test drive a few until you full licence.

Test drove few of the friends bikes! Zx10r r1 r6 cbr 600 and 400 and I'm comfortable enough with them Itll be a weekend and odd weekday evening rider so won't be for commuting. Suppose just ring insurance companies tomorrow and see which of them laughs less at me! Otherwise I'll ave to revert back to a cbr 400!
