Summer wedding panic!

Have a wedding coming up in a couple of months and have been desperately searching for the right dress. It’s the first wedding in my group of friends and I know everyone will be making a BIG effort so the pressure is on! I have a tendency to always buy black but am determined not to as this will be an early summer wedding and feel some colour would be more appropriate.

I’m a size 10-12, hour glass type figure and short (5ft 1). Ideally I’m looking for something fitted but in a flattering heavier material (so I can eat my dinner without having to spend the rest of the evening sucking in my stomach!). Ideally not strapless but with a low-ish neckline (tend to look a bit large on top otherwise). Have been looking on and off since Xmas but nothing so far! Willing to pay up to €200 but would love to get it for less! Any suggestions?!

I know I seem like their spokesperson on here, but you can't go wrong with Vivien of Holloway!

I had never considered a more vintage-y style but some of those dresses are lovely and might work well for my body. This one is my favourite http://www.vivienofholloway.com/women-c70/dresses-c10/jezebel-pencil-wrap-dress-c25/jezebel-floral-noir-bust-dress-p916
.......really find it hard to resist black but at least it has a nice colourful top half! The top is the perfect sort of shape that I'm after too. Am based in London so will definitely have a look in their shop. Did you find the material to sit well on you? My only concern it that the one I chose is 100% satin which might be a bit clingy for me.

    I imagine it's both.
    You wear what you want.
Some like to wear long. Others wear short. Others in-between! :)

I ended up getting a wine fishtail dress for the wedding that I am attending in the summer - would be a similar size and shape to you by the sound of it. If you want the back up of shapewear would be an option, you can get it quite light. I am self conscous of a massive scar on my stomach due to cancer surgery and it has helped me with that. Celebrate your curves and the fact that you are slender in a good way - took me years to accept mine.

Yeah you're right, I like a form fitting dress but I just want to be sure I'm comfortable as weddings are such long days out! Might go for some Shape wear depending on dress I decide on but I generally find it a bit uncomfortable. Where did you get your dress?

I got my dress on Adverts in the end - will have to get it taken up but it is a dream dress, sorry that is not much use. I wear shapewear in a size too big for me so it is not uncomfortable.

I find their dresses absolutely great for an hourglass figure - particularly the halterneck circle dress. I'd be a little careful with the one you've chosen there in terms of the bust though if you are anything above about a DD cup - description says there is little to no give in the material and there doesn't look to be an awful lot of room. Best to go in and try it on if you can, store is about 3 mins walk from Holloway Road tube so quite handy.

While maybe fairly typical wedding attire, these have some nices dresses and I believe they have shops in London along with plenty of stockists. The material in the Seville hourglass is fairly heavy but nice and stretchy, very comfy. Some nice bright prints there too. Some good dresses there for curves.
