Race points

    Can anyone tell me how manys points are allocated to A4 races?
    And is it 1st 6,8 or 10 across the line?
    I got a 7th and 9th place so far would i get any points for these results?

    Depends on distance of the race:

    (a) In road races up to 50km, points to be awarded 3-2-1;
    (b) In road races over 50km and up to 100km, points to be awarded: 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1;
    (c) In road races over 100km, points to be awarded, 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1;

    First 8 get points, 8 for first down to 1 for 8th if race is more than 50km. So you have 2 points, you need 10 to upgrade to A3. Points from last year carry over too. A4 races can't be longer than 80km I think

    All points are carried over for a3 and a2. No points halved since last year.

    It depends on the distance. Read the Technical Regulations from the CI website if you want the accurate version.

    I think we are both wrong :) Looks like only A3 are halved....

    chapter t3 CI regs:


    2. (a) Newcomers to the sport will be granted an A4 licence. Holders of an A4 licence may only compete
    with other A4 licence holders with the exception of handicap races. Notwithstanding in events restricted
    to Juniors, Veterans or Women, A4 licence holders may compete with other category riders. Those
    returning to the sport after an absence will normally be granted an A3 licence, however this may be
    reviewed following an application to the National Grading Officer.
    (b) An A3 rider on amassing 15 points in a calendar year will be upgraded to A2 with zero points.
    (c) An A3 rider with less than 15 points at year end will carry 50% of total points obtained, to the
    following year.

    (d) An A4 rider on amassing 10 points, cumulative across years will be upgraded to A3.
    (e) For 2014 Category A4,A3 or A2 riders as at the end of 2013 may opt to upgrade by one category
    on their first licence application for 2014, this option will not extend beyond 31st December 2013.

    Are you sure about the A3 points carry over. Must be another secret new technical regulation.

    A4 points carry over in full from one year to the next. The main reason for this is to move riders on and try to keep it as a beginners category.
    It would not make any sense to carry over the full points in relation to the non beginner categories.

    Sorry must have changed again. All 2012 points carried into 2013. Can't keep up with CI. Doesn't matter much when your a1.

    Don't think so. Points were always halved and carried forward. A1 don't carry over and A4 carry in total.

    Senior B points, back in the day, were treated in the same way as A3 now.

    As i said earlier, you have 2 points for your 7th place presuming it was a race over 50km in lenght and more than 20 riders in race. If an A4 race is less than 50km and/or has less than 20 riders in race only the top 3 score points, 3,2 and 1 points.

    Thanks lads 2 points on the cards and only points for top 8 depending on length and numbers got all that.
