so efibre is now in the estate I live in and the house facing, and beside me both have it. 5 years ago there were 6 new houses built, one of which I live in. These houses show up on no online map I've seen or on any sat nav I've used which is why I believe when I call eircom they say it's not available. Im with Vodafone and would love to know how I prove to either eircom or vodafone that it's there for me to use

Mods - please move to either eircom or vodafone. Whoever'll answer plaese

fibre is done based on what cabinet you are connected to. Do the other houses in the new part of the estate have fibre? Perhaps you are on a different cabinet

The other houses are still empty. But we are like a tag on in a straight road. It's like of u go out your front door and look left at your next door neighbour then that's us the same. We're 600 meters from the cabinet. I won't believe we can't get it. My neighbour in the older houses has it

What I would suggest you do is contact Eircom wholesale and tell them there is an issue with their ordering system since you are on a fibre enabled exchange. I have dealt with them directly before when I was getting run around from Vodafone/eircom. They were able to tell me that one cabinet in my village was enabled but the other one wasn't yet and gave me an approx date.

Do you have a phone number yet ?

There almost needs to be a czar at this stage for fraud-band. There is just no joined up thinking when it comes to a lot of new houses. A new house separated from an existing estate by a hundred feet, a footpath and a bit of grass is likely to be connected to a different cabinet which usually means a massive distance from the cabinet. In my head there has to be someway of connecting to the closest infrastruture without going thousands of meters out of the way if their not crossing main roads etc.

In my case the older house as I say which is separated by as mentioned has speeds of 65mb and I have 10mb. Surely companies like UPC and Eircom should be told that they have to run exceptable services to new areas in Towns and cities as part of their license. I don't accept that it's a cost factor as in most cases there is easy access to upgrade and small distances to travel.

This isnt on the ISPs in my eyes. Its the developers. They should have fitted ducting back to the main feed when they laid the other required plumbing.

The fact that this isnt a legal requirement for the last 3 decades is another story.

    Don't get me started.

Anyway, have any of the houses ever had phones in case they can trace back a number ?
