Punchestown Festival travel advice required

    Hi

Now that Cheltenham is finished I am looking at coming over from the UK for Tuesday 29/04/2014 as got free reciprical tickets for the first day of the festival.

I haven't yet booked my flights but I expect to fly in to land approx 12pm / 1pm

Years ago I always used to go on the special bus from busarus in the town centre, but it looks like I can go straight from the airport.

I am looking at the N7 Dublin Coach

How long from the airport to the N7 bus stop?

Was looking at getting the N7 bus at 1230 or 1330 from the airport arriving at Naas post office for 1325 or 1425.

So how do I get from Naas to Punchestown - Is a taxi job or is there another way?

I have seen a coach from Dublin to the course, but I obviously have to come into town and I think it leaves at 1pm, so it might be a bit tight if I land at 1210.

The flights coming back range from 10pm to 11pm, so which bus would work best?

My preference is for the 2225 to Birmingham.

So if I got the N7 would I need a taxi from Punchestown to Naas or is there another way?

I have emailed a quote request from Nass taxis but got no reply

Alternatively would I be better stopping over and getting an early flight next day to enjoy the evening

    All help appreciated

    Thanks

The N7 coach stop is just outside the terminal, about 10 mins walk. It would probably get to Naas in about an hour, or just under (though that's dependent on traffic).

There'll be plenty of taxis around Naas for the festival, and there are 2 ranks - one just next to the bus stop. There might be buses, but taxi is probably the best bet. Fare should be between 5-10 euro e/w.

Staying over might be a good idea - there's usually a good atmosphere around Naas if you're into socialising.

If you finish at the racecourse about 6 or so, you're wanting to allow about 2 hours to get to Naas and pick up a bus and on to the airport. That should be fine, assuming everything goes smoothly.

Missing a bus or taxi could wreak havoc on that (traffic can be heavy around the area) meaning you're rushing for checkin/security at the airport end or worse. Those N7 buses are hourly. Depends on how comfortable you are with the risk of missing your homeward flight versus missing some of the racing - and if you've come for the racing you probably won't want to miss much of it!

It's been a few years, but the last time I was at Punchestown, the shuttle bus between Naas and the course was free.

    Hi

    Thanks for that advice

The last race is 1915, first race 1540.

I can probably live without the last race so it looks like I am better stopping over

I'll wait and see if any other advice and book it up tomorrow

    Thanks
