    Awesome! :D

Do McDonald's still sell the toys from the happy meals separately?

I think so for €1 or €2 not sure when these are out should be sometime this week.

I just saw it advertised on TG4

    http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/03/12/super-mario-happy-meals_n_4947570.html#slide=3512425
Over the last 30 or so years Nintendo has managed to wring an enormous amount of video gaming juice out of Mario, Luigi and friends.

Now they've found a new way to get their Italian plumber into the hands of small kids.

    Happy Meals!

That's right. In an effort to promote its various Mario video games (and its ailing Wii U console) Nintendo has unveiled a range of new Happy Meal toys, which will be available for kids and obsessive Nintendo collectors from 19 March.

The toys feature Mario, Luigi, Toad, Donkey Kong and a Super Mushroom power-up. There are also four interactive toys -- Mario’s Hovering Coin, Donkey Kong Barrel Projector, a Super Sound Mushroom and Mario’s Warp Pipe Embosser.

The promotion also has a positive edge, in that it is aimed at getting kids active as well as playing video games.

The Run, Jump and Power-Up with Super Mario promo "aims to inspire children to get active using some of Super Mario’s moves. They will be encouraged to run, jump and complete active tasks set out by Mario and friends" says Nintendo.

The ads and in-store promos will be run in the UK until 29 April. Check out how the new toys look below.

I haven't got a Happy Meal in years and years. Is it every week the toy changes? how many are usually in a collection?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,283 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Might get that nut job dressed as Mario with the keyboard in Dublin city centre to play me making my entrance into McDonalds on O'Connell Street later today.

    I'm so happy.

I'm gutted that I had to bring my sprogs to mankdonalds at the weekend, there's no way they'll be getting another one in time for me to get a couple of these into the house :(

Still, given how much everyone else in Liffey Valley seems to hate Nintendo, this is truly a great day for those of us unafraid of diving into a public bin in search of booty.

I think you can still buy the toys separately... Think they introduced that a few years back if I'm not mistaken?

I asked in McDonalds in Airside yesterday, and I was told I couldn't.. Maybe I was just unlucky/go a staff member that didn't know/went to the wrong Franchise..

I emailed them an hour ago, they said you can buy them separately. Wouldn't give me a price.

Picked this weeks two up on O'Connell Street earlier. I'm pretty sure they were €0.70 each

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,283 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Picked up a Mario and a Shroom in Maynooth. 70 cents each.

Just Mario in my local also. Wondering if they'll be getting the mushroom one in.

I got Mario and the mushroom in Nutgrove. €1.25 each!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,101 ✭✭✭Antibac

Might try a different store tomorrow. Anyone know when the next lot are out? Is it Monday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,283 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

probably a week apart so try Wednesday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

One store won't sell them, and the ones that do can price them whatever they want it seems (Up to €1.25 so far)...
How much is a happy meal? Is that different in every store too?

I can't see the price here, but I may be missing it..

Surely if a Happy meal is €1.99 (What i thought it was), then it would be better to buy the meal and eat the chips, keep the toy? Can you have an Orange Juice? (If the toy is €1.25)

But at €0.70 they're making money..? Aren't they? They would get those toys for free with their franchise subscription, or whatever. But if they had to pay, it would probably be €0.02 per toy..

I've seen the toys on ebay for crazy money.
Also seen unofficial ones on Aliexpress for €0.40 Delivered
They probably don't make noise, but may be better made... :pac:

Off topic a bit but I know a middle aged man who has every happy meal toy ever released since 1985 ! his ambition is to be able to get all of the releases which go right back to 1979. So far he has paid in excess of 10,000 euros in that quest and he says he is nowhere near completion!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

That is a lot of bad burgers!

You can get orange juice with a happy meal. And carrot sticks or a fruit bag - apple slices - instead of chips. If only the burgers tasted of something they'd be great:-)

I nearly got a coffee as the drink with a happymeal last week. That would have been a fun afternoon

Store discretion for the prices of the toys I believe anyone spot new toys today?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,283 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

I put this thread up for the toys not the nutritional value of the food, take your food enquires elsewhere, I say. ;)

Yep, I now have Mario, a mushroom, Luigi and Toad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,101 ✭✭✭Antibac

Picked up the Luigi and Toad today. Building into a nice little collection

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Anybody know what day the toys change?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Think it depends on stock. I was in Liffey valley yesterday, Marios as far as the eye could see. By the time I was leaving though it had switched to Luigi and toad

There's a distinct lack of pictures goin on in this thread. Just sayin is all.

The power up noise on the mushroom is sort of embarrassingly addictive :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

Luigi's right hand has been chewed off, and his arm is mangled..

    Mushroom missing.

I'm pretty sure a Golden Lab pup with no name did it..
    Toad_crying.png

Has anybody had any luck paying for them?

Ive a few and I havent bought a Happy Meal yet, bought them separately. Either 90 cent or €1 each depending on the store.

I'm going to chance buying the lot tomorrow. Haven't been allowed to yet, but I'll bring in the evidence hopefully they'll be nice to me.

Dont go to McDonald's in Kilkenny if you want to buy them seperate. Was there yesterday and even after buying 3 happy meals when I asked to buy one on its own, they asked for€4.50. Carlow only charge 80c.

    My kids love them tho.

How many toys have been available so far ?

It will probably be Monday going by the last few (that and DK), I'll post here Monday morning if I get it on the way to work.

Can other people confirm that most stores have the Yoshi and Mario with Coin now? Some stores seems to be behind others in getting the newest ones.
