[Insert Dara o'Briain stand up footage here].

Instead of banging on about how modern music is terrible, how about we recommend music to each other that we may not have heard before, and why we might like it?

    http://ravenous.bandcamp.com/

Totally awesome hook based noisy rock. Some real melancholy anthemic stuff, but very fun. You gotta turn this up LOUD.

    https://soundcloud.com/dearreadermusic

Poppy sort of stuff, pretty melancholic again, though. Minor left-field influences, with a couple of tracks that really charge forward and build into an amazing crescendo of brilliance. You might dig it if you're into Florence & the Machine.

Prhizzm is, for me, the absolute best in electronic music. Every track is a journey, leaving you nowhere near where you began. The way every element interacts perfectly with each other, the shifts in key, the emotion it puts you through is fucking masterful. Unfortunately, he gave up music, and releases are very hard to come by unless you don't mind searching for MP3s.

These guys make really pleasant music you can fall asleep to. It's like a lullaby blanket. This track in particular speaks to that. I hope they become incredibly big, there needs to be more music like this.

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsPorTyaI8c‎

Something heavy to end the list. Toadliquor are like a noisier version of The Body, lots of screeching and wailing in between the crushing guitars. If you want to rock the fuck out, this is the one!

So, what else could you recommend?

Appreciate what you're trying to do but this thread is going to be full of people only putting up music they like and not listening to anything else. That's just the way it goes..

Yes. Because electronic music is entirely devoid of artistry or creative merit.

It'd probably break your heart to see an album being mastered so.

That's awfully close minded. Some of the most iconic music has been made electronically. Doctor Who theme anyone? It's not all club tunes and fat beats. Synthesisers brought about a whole new world in creative musical theory and writing.

This is one of many outstanding examples.

    Jean Michel Jarre.

    That is all.

Err no. Looking for unknown bands then claiming them to be amazing is practically all hipsters do though.

Some people prefer to enjoy exploring the world of music that's out there rather than finding labels and rushing to slap them on people :) Can't we all just get along?

Wanting to discover new music and share it with others is what fans of music do. Back to yr Oasis.

For you...fantastic suite to listen through, really tells a story. Reconstruction and March my favourites.

The point is to share music that you wouldn't hear on the radio instead of bitching about how music is shit and trolling like a twat.

I never said any of it was shít. Not trolling either, being quite genuine. But good luck to ya.

Post up a few links to music you want to share so, and stop being so miserable and contrary!

These people aren't hipsters, they're dickheads.

Great track by Actress, who has pretty much mastered his own sound. Amazing how lost you can get in what is really just a very simple loop.

    Pretty much. And that's fine.

People with a real interest in it generally seek out new and alternative types of bands and music.

I've found myself liking things from genres I thought wouldn't be all that interested in.

You probably 'like' music and listen to some of the more popular bands, which is fine, but you don't seem to have a passionate interest in it.

Gaming, tv, movie soundtracks are where all the talent is, and people can be genuinely creative as possible

I still listen to BSG's soundtrack years after it has finished. I doubt they'll ever be a television soundtrack as creative as it again. Masterpiece

'Beauty and the beast' Gothic Metal, it is very atmospheric, it includes beautiful female vocals with bursts of male deathly growls, an example would be a band named Draconian or Trail of tears
