Whatever happened to the Skyfest?

Anyone remember the annual Paddy's Day fireworks display, the Skyfest? Haven't heard about it for a couple of years so assume its been cancelled, anyone know why?

We hit a space shuttle that was orbiting the earth at the time at the last Skyfest , major international incident.

It is now being held in the Bertie bowl.

The Wiki page says it got cancelled after 2012. Also says Mark McCabe compiled the tunes for it. She's a manic, maaaniac on the floor...

Any reason for its cancellation ?? Paddys Day is pretty tame without it.

None that I could find after a quick google anyway. It was always that thing I watched on TV and said I'd go to next year

It moved from Dublin to a few not-Dublin locations and then disappeared for some reason, probably costs and/or health & safety. It's a pity, I thought it was a really great event years ago.

Someone realised that it didn't make much sense to just set fire to stuff that cost a sh1tload of money!

They scaled it back. This year it's a lad called Anto letting off a banger on O'Connell bridge.

It is a pity it's gone,used to be great buzz in anticipation waiting for it,98fm were sponsors but like every thing good/enjoyable in this town probably was un affordable,no doubt it was a good tourist attraction as well as a pr stunt
