Hello, our wedding is this time next year and trying to think up of ideas for our honeymoon at the moment. We would like to ideally stay in Europe but I am worried about the weather at that time of the year, we would be going for 2 weeks mid-late March. Has any one any suggestions of places? We would like to fit in 2 places and our budget would ideally be around €2,000ish for both of us.

    Thanks!

Could go for a nice spa break in Holland they have some nice spas, or himself is mad about Bologna saying it is quite cheap once ye get there

I would like to go to Italy actually, I have only been once and himself hasn't been at all. We could stretch the budget a bit also if there are any other suggestions or recommendations from people who might have done similar.

There are lots of choices but it really depends on what you're looking for. At that time of year I think you're really looking at city breaks rather than a beach holiday unless you go somewhere like lanzarote.

I love Rome & Florence, lots to see, nice food and wine. I've been to Rome in February and the weather was reasonably good but it's always going to be hard to tell at that time of year. The train system in Italy is easy to use so you could fit in a few places depending on time, Rome, Florence, Bologna, Pisa are all within an easy train ride from each other.

Seville also might be a good choice - I haven't been but spring is often recommended as the best time to go as it's too hot during the summer.

I was in Madrid in mid March a few years ago and it was quite warm (t-shirt rather than jumper weather). It's not really for me as i'm not really into art museums and I didn't think there was much else to do but it's a nice enough city.

A girl in our office went to Rome for a 5 day honeymoon and loved it. They are saving up for a 2 week honeymoon in the Summer to South Africa.

We got married in January and honeymooned in Ireland. Weather was very hit and miss as you can imagine but in all honesty, neither weather nor location caused us a thought either in the lead up to the wedding or during the holiday. We booked our first hotel on day after wedding and the second hotel in the lobby of the first hotel when we were checking out.

Yeah, it would have been nice if it wasn't thundering down with rain and howling wind, but it didn't take away from the key bit - just spending time together as husband and wife for the first time. There's no *nudge nudge wink wink* in saying "spending time together" either - it was perfect just *being*. No planning required. Stumbling on random things to do. Strolling hand in hand. Sitting reading together. Going for a swim in hotel pool, chilling out in Sauna etc. Stopping for afternoon tea and scones in a random cafe in the midlands. Taking selfies together. Lighting a candle in a random church. Taking in a morning show at the cinema. Driving and enjoying the scenery. Talking. Laughing. Walking.

I guess the point I'm making is that you'll find the destination and the weather won't matter a bit when you get there. Post wedding, you'll both be on a high and floating on a cloud and will hardly notice the things that don't matter.

Enjoy it when it comes. Roll a dice. See where the wind takes you and hold hands along the way and you'll be grand. Nothing worth getting worried about a year in advance!

Go skiing? Late March is close to the end of the season and you could get somewhere really nice in Austria, Italy or Switzerland for your budget.

Thanks for all of your suggestions, they are really appreciated. I hadn’t thought of skiing so I will definitely broach that topic with himself tonight. Just wondering has anyone any opinions of or know anyone who has been to Croatia? Wouldn’t mind holding on until April/May for the direct Aer Lingus flights and do a little mini-moon here for a few days after the big day.
Logically - thanks for the advice, not getting worried just excited and thinking about suggestions and how realistic our budget is, which is important IMO.
