    Hi all,

My mum had applied for disability allowance and was turned down so she appealed it and just received a letter that says "appeal is allowed"... Does anyone know what this means?? I'm hoping it's good news but afraid to get our hopes up as that's literally all it really says!

I'm pretty sure that means your appeal has been successful, what else does the letter say.

Thanks :-) it just says that they received notification of her appeal and that it's going to go back to the social welfare services office now.

Going by the above it sounds as if its just notification of appeal has been acknowledged. How long is it since you first appealed.

I know it's ridiculous the way they can't just state exactly what they mean, it's all so vague. I was hoping the fact that it says that it's now going back to the offices in Longford was a positive thing? But it really is so vague... It doesn't even give a number to call or anything, is just signed by the deciding officer but no contact details under this to get in touch with him!!

If the letter from the appeals office says her appeal is allowed then it means that your mam won her appeal. Her application now goes back to Longford where they will proceed to process her application. So its good news but she will probably still have a good few weeks to wait.usually the first clue you get that your disability allowance is awarded is when your Free Travel arrives in the post.

Oh thanks so much! Such a relief after waiting since June to hear. Thanks everyone.
