Explain Eircom's Wholesale Terminology

    Hi all,

    Following on from my thread over in "Nets and Comms" ... Here

    I'm likely to be moving house soon and I need broadband for work so I'm trying to figure out what Eircom's terminology for each exchange means on their whole sale website. Each exchange has a Yes or No answer to the following six parameters:

    Ethernet (WEIL)
    Ethernet (WEIL local)
    Ethernet (WSEA)
    Reach Nodes (WSEA)
    APT Nodes (WSEA)
    Broadband (BMB)

    I'd very much appreciate if one of you knowledgable folk could explain to mean how each one of those terms relates to the ADSL, ADSL2 and VDSL (efibre) that I understand!!

    The only one that applies here is Broadband BMB, the rest are other services that they supply

    Does that mean that I can't tell from these descriptors if the exchange has ADSL or ADSL2+ ?

    PS: So short of ringing eircom there is no definite way to confirm if a given exchange has ADSL 2+ or not?

    What area are you looking at moving into and i will do abit of digging and find out if the exchange is ADSL or ADSL2+ and try give an estimate on the speeds available.

    Most providers can check by address, in particular if there was a previous phone line installed (in situ)
