    Cycle4DSI - Lap de Gaps 2014
After a amazingly successful event last year with 400 cyclists rolling out on year one, we are returning again for 2014. We have moved the date to Saturday May 17th. The two reasons for the move are to try and get better weather and not to clash with the KARE event. A number of improvements have been made on last years event and the 50k route has been changed. It is also now affiliated with Cycling Ireland and the event is proudly been run in association with The Reservoir Cogs Cycling Club from Blessington. We also have some major new sponsors on board.

Hopefully we will see you all back this year.

For full details on the event and registration (the event is online registration only) click on the link

    www.cycle4dsi.ie

    Thank you !

Did this cycle last year and loved it! Great atmosphere from start to finish and the food afterwards made all the effort worth it!! All this despite the weather being about as tough as could be (on the approach to the Sally Gap I remember just standing on my left pedal and praying it would go around - the headwind was so strong it was like going up a vertical wall - epic stuff!). Looking forward to this year again - it's a crackin' route with some lovely scenery. Good cause too... :-)

Absolutely gutted on this. I know the 100km guys last year had fierce weather to contend with but moving it out to May has planted the event on my wife's birthday weekend.

Aaaaaargh. Would have loved to do it. Mighty craic last year, great bunch of people and great laugh.

Looking forward to this spin. Did it last year. Great atmosphere and well organised. Good call moving the date on a few weeks. The weather last year was brutal on the Sally Gap and beyond!....I'm going to do the 100km. If you like doing a bit of climbing you'll like this route. Word of warning, don't underestimate the lap of the lake at the start ! There's a few little climbs on it that will sap the energy out of you with only 25km done. So pace yourself, keep a bit in the tank for the big stuff. :-))

Unfortunately, that's the same day as the Mount Leinster Challenge........ :(

Yes that is correct. Unfortunately it's very hard to find a free weekend once the sportive season kicks off. Distance wise they are far enough apart so they shouldn't affect each other numbers wise, hopefully.

Morning all, for anyone intending on doing this sportive, I am involved in a spin (not a competetive one, last year we did a similar spin from Dublin to Mullingar & clicked along at 25-27 kph approx) from Dublin to Kilkenny, distance is roughly 130km, in aid of St. Johns Ward, Oncology Unit in Crumlin Childrens Hospital on Sat. May 10th. if anyone is interested in joining us, please PM me.

If I have made a faux pas by posting this message on this thread, please accept my apologies.

    Bloggsie.
