Well I'm goin to put down a few rolls of earthwool insulation in my attic tomorrow just wondering what's the best way in putting it down? Just roll it in between the joists on top of the existing stuff and the another layer on top of that goin across the other way, over the bridging is it? Can I layer it over all wiring? Cause I doubt there enough slack on the wiring.

If your attic has no insulation whatsoever you need to cut the rolls to the width of your joists. I usually get 2 or 3 small rolls from a full roll. Then unwrap them one at a time and roll them in between your joists. Once the first layer is done like this, run a second layer of full width rolls at 90 degrees making sure to closely butt the sides. Layers should be 100/200mm or 150/150mm you want to end up with 300mm of insulation for best results.

It is fine to run over the wiring provided it is in good condition. Don't cover down lighters either leave 4 inches around them or get some approved covers. It is a tougher job than most people realise. I've been called to many a half done job because the owner couldn't hack it.

Oh and wear a mask long sleeves and gloves.

    Eeeeh, not true. Sorry.

All SEAI registered Attic Insulation contractors are required to keep heavy cables (6square and above) on top of insulation. These are typically cables that power elec showers and cookers. If they are covered with insulation they are prone to overheating and damage.
