The launch night profiled three members, spanning three generations, of the running community;

Shauna Bocquet is a young wheelchair athlete who competes & trains with Craughwell AC. She is the youngest member of the National Track Racing programme run by the IWA-Sport.

Regina Casey is a multiple National T&F champion at 800m who competes with Galway City Harriers. She is a 17.29 5k runner & has represented Ireland in the U23 Celtic Games.

Small correction. The entries are on www.active.com rather than active global. Apparently there's a new system since the new year and accounts on Active Global do not work on Active.

    Got that?

    Cool :-)

Does it take long to sell out? Does the site stand up to the rush?

It sold out in 40 minutes last year...

How much is it and can you enter just one event?

The total cost of entry is €30 & that covers entry to all 6 races. You enter the whole series as one event rather than individual races but even at that it's great value. Not often you get a race for €5.

Last year was the first year the entries were taken on the 'active' website & it worked perfectly. There were no issues for anybody with the site not being able to cope with the traffic. It worked so well it sold out before a lot of people could get to a PC.

    Oh no!! :(

    Please note the following:

Oh no, there seems to be a glitch in our system. Please contact support at support @ active.com so we can sort this out.

And dumped out of the system

I'd say that's it! Sold out quicker than a Gareth Brooks concert. Maybe they'll do a second race on each night?

Just got the same thing myself. On hold until 8.22 & then it let me through to the last page. Thought I was in the clear & then got that message when I hit confirm:mad:

There are people still getting through though.

I'm going to have to stop reminding people that this opens, well at least til I get Mrs. AKW's entry sorted!! :)

Is it still possible to register for the Claregalway edition next Tuesday? I've seen new posters (at Ballybrit Racecourse) advertising the race.

This race is separate to the Galway 5k series, it just happens to be on the same route as the usual Claregalway leg of the series.
Check runireland or active global for registration details.

The Galway 5k series is sold out.

You cannot register for individual races.

The Claregalway leg is on the 20th May so I'd say the poster you have seen is for a different race?

Same course as the 5km series from what I've read somewhere though... for €10 you couldn't go wrong.... If you do it, let us know what the course is like :)

Anybody find the course slightly long yesterday? Everyones watches were going off up to 50m before each km marker and i finished with an extra 40m on mine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 618 ✭✭✭iluvfatfrogs

Didn't measure it, but found it a really nice course. The weather helped immensly! However, a lot of 25min+ runners seemed to start near the top. Slightly frustrating when there are 700 runners and not much room for overtaking!!

Nice race, it was very warm out there yesterday. My watch was 70m out when I got to the finish. I seemed to be off from the very start but def didnt start until I passed the mat.

Roll on next week in Loughrea. Apart from the photos on Maree AC's Facebook, are there any more about?>

Does anyone know who was taking the photo's at the mile marker? If so are the up online? Thanks

Could be this person, but no Loughrea pics up yet.

    Racecourse this evening at 8pm.
    Here's the new course map.

Please do not park on the main road entrance to the racecourse, follow the stewards directions as far as the car park and you'll only be a short stroll from the start line.

    Good Luck.
