Golf Club Captains

Has anyone on here ever been Captain of a golf club? Perhaps you could share some of your experiences. Or alternatively does anyone have ambitions to be Captain? I have to say I'd love it but not for a long few years yet, maybe when I'm retired.

I have a lot of respect for anybody who puts in time into their clubs, and not just Captains, but all positions including committee members. Most positions take up a lot of time & go unnoticed.
For me, I'm like you, I would eventually love to serve my time with a position but only when I could give the commitment whole heartedly.
