As regards uk stations, is this all that's available, no Virgin:D
BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 FM
BBC Radio Five Live, BBC Radio Five Live Sports Extra
BBC Radio 4 LW, BBC Radio 4 Extra, BBC 6 Music
BBC Asian Network, BBC World Service, BBC Radio Scotland
BBC Radio na Gaidheal, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru
BBC Radio Ulster, BBC London 94.9 , Capital FM, Choice FM
Classic fm, Gold, XFM, Absolute Radio, Absolute 80's, WRN Radio
Jazz FM, Planet Rock, talk SPORT, Smooth Radio, Heart, Insight Radio
    BFBS Radio, TWR Radio,

If I get the frequency number of a station can I do an individual search like with a tv frequency, rather than a full scan.

Virgin Radio rebrands as Absolute Radio
    by Jeremy Lee, 01.09.2008

    inShare

LONDON - Virgin Radio will be rebranded Absolute Radio, the name of part of the consortium that bought the station from SMG earlier this year.
Virgin Radio was sold for £53m to TIML, part of the Times of India Group, and the radio consultancy Absolute Radio, which also owns two radio stations in Oxford, in May this year.

Sir Richard Branson, who licensed the Virgin name to SMG, invoked a clause allowing him to retake control of the Virgin Radio brand, so the new owners had to rename it.

So Branson no longer has a virgin uk stn.

There are four Absolute stations on 12581 V 22000. The one just called Absolute is in parallel to their medium wave station on 1215 kHz.

I don't get this... take Heart Radio for instance when I try to listen to it online I get this....
Sadly our broadcasting rights do not allow us to play to locations outside the UK. If you are in the UK, please enter your postcode:

I know I can enter a uk postcode and get it.

But I can still listen to it on my FTA box with no restrictions.

I've lost signal for others like Gold,Captiol FM etc on FTA box but they may have just stopped broadcasting on FTA

The channels I want, like Gold Capitol etc seem to all be on Astra 2F
I only have, Astra 2A and Eurobird 1

If Astra 2F is FTA, (and not Freesat only) if I do a 'blind scan' instead of a full scan will that pick it up.

blind scan or a network scan switch it to on and it should pick it up.... or just ignore the 2f your box will pick up all sat listed at 28east...simply add the numbers you see manually and u can scan them..and pick up the radio stations listed on that transponder,

Blind scan did the job brought them all in don't know why a full scan didn't work.

    thanks lads

A full scan would not have brought them in as this will only scan the transponders already programmed into your box. By doing a network or blind scan the box will scan all frequencies and pick up transponders not saved into the box..

    glad you got sorted.

Just to go back to your question about this restriction:

Sadly our broadcasting rights do not allow us to play to locations outside the UK. If you are in the UK, please enter your postcode:

This stops the rest of the world outside the UK from listening on the internet. They cannot stop the satellite signal from going outside the borders of the UK but it is only a small area comparatively.

They could make them paid services and restrict subscriptions to UK residents but that would probably not make sense for stations like Gold and Capital.
