    Hi,
Not sure if this is the correct place to post but I thought someone here may have experience of this issue.
Basically, I booked a flight for the family with Aer lingus,
when entering my sons name I input "Sam" on the booking but on his passport he is listed as "Samuel". I am so used to calling him Sam that I didn't think twice about it until now!
Does anyone have experience of whether this will cause an issue, it's (Sam) basically just an abbreviation of his actual name?

Nobody will notice, it happens all the time with Tom/Thomas, James/Jim etc. Even Ryanair don't get upset by it. Surname and photo are really all they care about, a slight discrepancy in the first name won't cause any problem. The boarding pass may only show the initial anyway.
