So do you lads really believe that either smalling or evans are any good at all?

I think a CB pairing of Evans and Jones next year would be very good in the league, especially if they get the right sort of cover from midfield.

In fairness to Moyes it was a brave and right call now to pick Giggs. It will do against the Greeks anyway. He need to have a Plan B against better opposition.

Still its nice to actually be in good form for 1 match. It might be short lived but I will enjoy it while it lasts.
Yeah and for me that plan B should be worked out continuously with the remaining PL matches - depending on the draw we will have either 3 or 4 matches to prepare for the first leg ... IMO they should be used almost exclusively to prepare for that match.

The good thing is we can rest players now before the CL ties. Fergie never had that luxury.

Dortmund have actually looked pretty ordinary this season and with Lewandowski being out for the first game and his general disinterest in any case with his impending move to Bayern then I think we would have a real chance against them.

Anyone but Dortmund or Chelsea and we don't stand a chance.

Dortmund have/had serious injury crisis to deal with this season to their defense.

Ya PL should now be written off - If I were Moyes I would change focus away from being results driven in PL to tactics, interlinking, formations and drilling players over and over again on a system that gives us even a small chance.

The 65 million dollar question though, what system is best for us to even have a chance?

A system that could include Kagawa would be nice imo. Or at least give us some chance.

I can see Moyes though using at least 1 of Valencia or Young or Welbeck.

4-2-3-1 I think is best bet.

You wouldn't know with Dortmund. They've put in some shocking performances themselves this year and their squad is threadbare as it is. No Lewandowski first leg, no Kuba for the rest of the season, Gundogan has one of those injuries where he's perpetually a few weeks away from returning. They're a shadow of last year's team.

I was very impressed with the first half. It was the first time in a long time I can remember being satisfied with the team's play. There was loads of good pressure and all the players were managing to link up properly. The second half wasn't so good and, considering who the opposition were, there was far, far too much hanging on.

All things considered, it was a good result and an acceptable performance. If Moyes can build on this and put the shíte we've seen all season behind him then I'll be happy to have him as manager. Imo it is far more likely that this will prove to have been a one off performance.

It would be Chelsea, PSG and Dortmund for me.

After that is ****e in my pance time.

PSG and Dortmund are both quality on their day, but I think PSG have question marks over big games performances from what I seen.

Yeah, great result bvut a result that would not have happened if Feillaini had started instead of Giggs.
Evra was skinned alive all night, Valencia proved once again that he is finished and we ended up on the back foot. They should have made it 1-1 before we got the second. As soon as went went 3 up we seemed to go on the back foot - not the first time this has happened. It gets Moyes over a hump but nothing more.

I would be of the thinking that Welbeck could be vital - seems to be on a vendetta to prove himself and had a good solid game tonight ... Valencia is utterly maddening but I think his pace may just be needed to break fast - One thing is for sure Moyes has a job on his hands to come up with a system to give us even a chance.

I dont know that last 30 minutes had a touch of the Irelands Trap v Austria at home about it, only this Greek side dont have a Alaba.

We were horrendous the last half hour. Shocking.

Too many Hoofs, not enough composure.

Up to that we were good alright. Was happy till then.

What has Kagawa done that you keep saying he is a vital cog for United? I have only seen him play a few times for United and he has looked awful for the most part.

Well it seems like you are always calling for his inclusion in the team sheet. You are not the only one but I've seen him a few times now and he has looked awful for nearly all of that time.

Who's would you fancy in QF lads? Dortmund/PSG? Only beatable teams ?

First half was electric and the best i've seen Utd in some time. Realistically though Olympiakos are about as good as a midtable premier league team at best.

Second half we persisted with Valencia until the 75th minute despite him having one eye swollen shut and on a yellow and final warning since the end of the first half. Should have been hooked at half time, i thought he was definitely going to get sent off or cost us a goal because of his injury. Is Valencia that important to our plans that we leave him on that long when it's a risk to do so? I mean he was decent tonight but he remains a hugely one dimensional, out of form player that offers very very little these days. Then we spend the final 20 minutes or so hanging on for dear life like we were playing Real Madrid when the shower in front of us were realistically about Swansea/West Brom quality.

Imo that performance was despite Moyes rather than because of him, the senior players took it upon them to get a performance after Sunday and attacking is in their nature. Once we went back to the same old **** of sitting back once we had the lead it was shaky enough. Great that we won though

He been awful when on wing alright. Much better then that.

I have questioned Kagawa few times this season.

The reason I would like to see him included is that he can play the right balls and is very comfortable on the ball. WE will need somebody who going to give us that extra second or two to bring more players into game from when we are defending.

Chelsea, Dortmund or PSG for me realistically are the only ones we might have a good go at.
