Couldn't care less what Moyes says at this stage. Its the same old clichéd guff week in week out.
The buck stops with him at the end of the day - I cant remember a United team that were so 1-dimensional and pedestrian. He has Kagawa and Mata, 2 very creative players and he hasn't a clue how to use them and he sticks with Feillaini when he's fit when its clear to anyone who can see it that he's not even related to a central midfield player - in any shape or form. He has managed to weaken our midfield, something I thought was impossible at the start of the season and there's more pace in a snails funeral procession than we have on our flanks. RVP isn't even a shadow of the player he was, does not look happy and we're all over the place at the back on top of everything else.
All of that is David Moyes job - that's why he is there and so far (predictably for those who could see it coming) he has utterly failed to deliver on any of it. Just give him his P45 and call a taxi for him and bring him back to Preston or somewhere like that.

    Interesting to say the least.

WAsn't having a pop at you by the way, I just considered Keys to be out to pasture, although have seen him crop up on BT Sports panels the odd time this season

If I'm honest, while he gets alot of ****, and rightfully so, I kinda like some of his opinions and insights into certain things. Granted transfer gossip isnt one of them, but he has some opinions on stuff that I really agree with, and it's a pity ina way hes such a moron that it never catches airtime.

and I think the cavani deal could go the way of Hazard.... Deal struck with both United and City, terms agreeded etc etc then he coming out on youtube and twitter saying he will def be playing in Manchester next season, then a week later he really likes the look of red on him.... 2 days later signs for Chelsea!!!

Obviously he knows it's not good enough etc., but is it possible hes confident about his position?

    That's what is worrying me.

He needs to show us something, anything at all, to show he's pissed off either on the pitch through his players or whatever. Obviously don't throw them under the bus at a press conference but it would be nice to see that he actually might care.

Talking about being worried about Olympiakos after being 2-0 down, Christ man. I don't care of you have we lose 4-2 aslong as we show some passion and commitment to the cause and throw the sink at it.

I don't want to even subscribe to transfer rumours yet, if Moyes gets the sack, all plans go out the window. I'm sure there is a plan of attack in terms of signings and getting business done early, but if he's gone then it's another summer setback.

There will be a WORLD of rubbish this summer, from nevermind the papers, but agents trying to leak **** to get their players headlines.

The world knows we need signings, the world now knows we've hard cash to buy them with, its going to be a summer filled full of rubbish.

Cavani would be a ridiculous signing that would simply spell the departure of RVP. You can't have both of them surely. Then again removing Chico and having a trio of Cavani, RVP and Rooney...

Nah **** off we can do this transfer stuff in June.

Jesus, what more do you want the man to say. He's been asked the exact same questions every single week. Stock answer is all you should expect at this stage. 99% of all press conferences follow a similar pattern. Journo asks question that manager has been asked a million times before, manager gives stock answer. Repeat ad nauseum.

Do you think if Mourinho was in the same circumstances or Wenger, that they would just come out with the same stock answers?

He is as predictable off the field as he is on it.

I think the press conference is an important medium for the manager to communicate with the fans and the public. Often they are simply irrelevant and pointless but in times like this it's an opportunity for Moyes to explain defeats and offer reassurances into the future. Something in which he was failing spectacularly. We're on a downward spiral and he is offering no fight or explaination for its cause.

He's out of his depth on every level here and he hasn't a clue what's going wrong. He's a very poor communicator.
Disagree, It's just another stick to beat Moyes with at this stage as he can't do anything right in most people's eyes at this stage. If you think Press Conferences are so important you must have been horrified by some of Fergie's efforts where he didn't answer questions which annoyed him and threw out journos who wrote bad things about his team.

What sort of explanation for the horrible recent defeats, or the terrible season as a whole, would you have accepted from Moyes in that press conference? Give us a few lines there that would have made you go away thinking "I'm happier now about the whole situation than before the presser started."

I doubt you could come with anything even remotely plausible that Moyes could have said to change the mood of fans at this stage.

I'm not quite sure what you were hoping for to be honest. Did you want Moyes to come out and say 'Hands up, we were absolutely ****. I'm having an awful time as manager and I'm really struggling here'? Did you want him to lambast the players? Say he doesn't think he's the man to turn things around? Did you want more witty quips? Funny one liners? What did you want to hear?

"not for the lack of trying"

PLEASE. If effort and hard work alone was all that's necessary to manage Manchester United then we could all apply for the position.

As Noel Gallagher said last night:

"Giving Mata to David Moyes is like giving a smart-phone to your grand-dad for xmas".

Hasn't a clue what to do with it.

Yet the Board will back him with £200m? Frightening.

He hasn't got the balls to drop Rooney/RvP/Mata and hasn't the nouse to figure out a system to employ all 3 effectively.

Pick one or the other. Drop 1 of them, keep the system, or change the system.

Shoving a relatively lazy, but brilliant, play-maker on to the wing is putting all sorts of pressure on the full backs and back four. Constantly being over-run as Mata doesn't have the engine or desire to do the defensive donkey-work.

Whereas Rooney does have the engine and desire yet half the time is ending up in the quarter-back role Stevie G plays in, and punting long Hollywood balls to an isolated RvP.

It's a pure shambles the whole thing.

Olympiakos are relatively muck by top European standards but there literally isn't a hope on any known evidence that Moyes knows how to turn them over by 3 clear goals.

the press conference is just a media obligation. id say if most managers had their way they would rather not have them.... wouldn't be reading to much into what is said, most managers say the very same stuff every week.

would love united to go out and hammer olympiacos tomorrow night, pressure must be unreal on moyes at the minute. feel sorry for him a bit now cant be easy shoes to fill. (fergies) If they get knocked out tomorrow night going to be really hard to motivate the players for the rest of the year

    More hilarious gifs?

I expect Moyes to do the right thing tomorrow. They'll win 4-0 and his job will be safe for another few months.

Whatever happened to Fletchers comeback, can't quite pinpoint when he disappeared but seems a while back. Did he get injured again or...? Not shouting for his inclusion or anything just curious.

In contrast, I feel he nearly has nothing to lose at this stage. United can survive without CL football for one year and if it is true that the Glazers et al are willing to effectively write off this season then why doesn't he try a few different things tactically before this season is out? Rotate RVP, Rooney, Kagawa and Mata and stick with whichever combo works best. Allow players to show their flair and creativity instead of suffocating their natural talent by making themselves 'hard to beat' and lose the awful crossing tactic. The most frustrating thing is his continous persistence with Valencia in this set-up. At least Young (sometimes), Nani and Kagawa can cross a ball whereas he rarely beats the first defender.

Maybe but a bit unlikely, but we haven't hit 4 or more in a game since November. And we have played plenty of teams worse than Olympiakos in the meantime.

Anything about what direction he wants to bring the club or what he's trying to do on the pitch would be a start. Instead of a vague "I have ideas" line we've heard all season. Well what are these ideas because we haven't seen anything so far that shows we're improving or intent on playing a certain way.

Look I'm aware that these things are mundane a lot of the time but I'm searching for anything that shows that he has some passion and motivation for the job and wanting to succeed rather than just not fail. And so far when he's dealt with the media he's looked more and more like Roy Hodgson's younger brother in what and how he says things about his side.

That is amazing. Even if it is just coincidence, it is as an astonishing coincidence.

Can you even call it a comeback?

Which game was it that Carrick had to go back into defence, but rather than bring Fletcher in from the bench Moyes elected to play Rooney in midfield instead? He is clearly not near fit for action when that was happening, so its little surprise that he hasn't featured since.

I really just can't understand why the support for Moyes?

Why anyone can want him in the job is mind boggling at this stage, its only because he was Fergies man. He has absolutely destroyed the team he inherited, he has simply failed to keep them at all competitive.

What really worries me is that Moyes is speaking like he has got long term backing and the owners buy into the 'give him time' theory.

Also it is ridiculous if Cavani comes in because it will likely mean Rooney stays at number 10 and he just isn't good enough in that position when we have two other possible world class number 10s at the club.

Where the **** did that come from ?

Richard Keys, nothing on you bangkok, but since when was Richard Keys ever giving anything on transfer stuff, he got a new show or something?

Keys said with certainty that Rooney was not leaving United on a couple of occasions.

On his show on Talksport a few weeks ago I remember a quick exchange he and Andy Gray had when talking about United transfer targets. Keys mentioned Cavani, Gray replied with a shocked "Really?" and Keys said "Yeah" with the same trademark smugness he had when predicting the Rooney stuff.

That was a few weeks ago though, when we had a tiny chance of fourth. That's gone now, so I think players like Cavani are off-limits for us.

I'm all for bashing Moyes, but I don't know why some seem surprised his press conference went the way it did. As much as I'd like a passionate call to arms, if it was going to come, it would have months ago. And no manager is going to go "Oh, yeah, I'm ****ed, they've realized I'm useless and I'm screwed". And of course he's going to say "My job is safe"; pretty soon, we'll be getting the dreaded vote of confidence.

What I did take from the conference was the fact the media, from the 5 minutes I saw, were asking the tough questions and actually acknowledging the poor preformances, something I feel they've not been thus far. The press are finally starting to realise they have to start calling for his head too.

He's conceded one less this season so far. And to think some people aren't willing to give him a chance.....
