So who is going or will be gone by September

Certs; Vidic, Evra, Anderson, Giggs, Macheda.

    Likely; Chico.

    Maybe; Nani.

    Anyone else?

    Tom 'The Bollox' Cleverly

Rio and Giggs are nothing more than squad players at this stage. If they're being replaced it won't be with £100-150k a week guys.

But i don't think you can look at it like for like in terms of replacements.

Firstly, we need to improve the squad quality, so i'd be looking at moving players out and repalcing them with better players - so that will come into it.

Secondly, we are (apparently) looking at bringing in some top players - talk of Kross being offered 200-250k per week to join us - which would swallow up the 'savings' from Rio and Giggs' contracts in one go.

The reports on luke shaw have us offerign 85k - which I don't think is far off what Evra is on himself (think he is on 90, maybe a bit more).

I do think a lot of players will leave in the summer, but I would expect our wage bill to rise regardless, assuming we do the business the club is briefing it is looking to do.

Shaw, Carvalho, Kross, Garay and a couple of others could quite quickly eclipse the overall wages paid to those leaving in the summer.

Cant see him leaving in summer. Think he deserves another season. If he is as poor next then good luck to him finding decent PL club.

    Lindegaard
    XXX--Vidic---Ferdinand--Evra
    Nani--Anderson--Kagawa--Giggs
    Hernandez--Macheda

    Zaha, Fletcher, Henriquez, Bebe.

ALL of them could be gone - that 'first 11' i would say are quite likely to go.

Ya both could happen, but hopefully both will start. Would not be totally surprised though.

Rio and Giggs are nothing more than squad players at this stage. If they're being replaced it won't be with £100-150k a week guys.

These squad players should be replaced by the guys currently getting far too much first team gametime. The likes of Cleverley, Valencia and Carrick will fall back into their natural roles of backup players only and new quality players will become the first teamers.

So while Rio and Giggs are indeed squad players they will actually be replaced by first team players, with the appropriate wages.

The problem is that the likes of Cleverley and Young are on too high wages for what they offer, but thats another issue.

I heard that Moyes has had one single day off since he took over (Christmas day). What does that tell you?

That he doesn't know how to delegate. Classic sign of a poor manager.

The Hulk and Little Pea would be an interesting partnership.
Little Pea looks like he will leave this summer.
Hard to blame him, and he will be a loss to the United squad.
They should be securing 7/8m for him.

15M for Hernandez would be a bargain for whoever bought him.

While i love him, 15m for a forth choice striker who has barely played for a year would not be a bargain....

    Not sure about that.

I'd expect 3-4 players to arrive. About 6-8 to depart.

Given that the 6-8 contains some of the highest earners, I'd still expect the wage bill to drop.

yeah it'd be a bargain for United alright
not a hope in hell of securing that sort of fee for the mexican
altho in a years time, on the back of a season of football, that may well be his valuation

I think Nani will be kept...I'd put Kagawa in the maybe column, unfortunately, and I think RVP will go once any sort of half decent club comes in for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,910 ✭✭✭bradlente

Think Kagawa will stay myself, might just be wishful thinking though.

RVP is a tough one.I can see him going and the side might have a bit more fluidity without him as he looks out of sorts in a Moyes team, but he's RVP ffs.If he does go it'll be a shame and he'll score plenty elsewhere.

If he does go that brings chic up another rung on the ladder which could facilitate him staying, his pace could really benefit the team.Whether he stays or goes, the fact he has a World Cup to look forward to in the Summer is good for both parties.

10 million max to be honest, nobody in the top four in the premier league would take him, and if they did he would still be benched. (Maybe Everton if they get 4th) A Foreign move is more likely.

    Off-topic 1000 posts :)

Bebé has scored 8 goals on loan this season, who needs Cavani?

If we sold Nani & Chicharito, given their ages and the unique qualities they both bring to the squad, I'd be completely gutted. Easily two of my three favourite players at the club, along with De Gea.

If they leave, we'll have another Forlan situation where they go elsewhere, play week in, week out, under a manager that trusts them and they'll do exceptionally well.

Just to clarify I'm not knocking Hernadez in above post but think he will always be a bit part player at UTD, but I agree a handy one as a super-sub where he has proven to be the most effective in this role. When he starts - not so good.

If he played week in week out, for a creative team, he'll easily score 20+ goals. His movement is unbelievable, and his goal scoring instincts are right up there with the likes of Van Nistelrooy. His link up play has improved a lot, plus his attitude is fantastic.

He is a player I would be absolutely sick to see us lose.

That's where my opinions differ about him (soz I don't want to get into another debate about him, I think I have 3 times already in this thread :P).

Maybe just maybe I might agree that If a specific team were to set up a tactically formation around him as a striker then it would get the best out of him but I don't see it happening, especially not at Man Utd, considering if we keep Rooney in his correct Role (out & out Striker) we have essentially a much better player in Rooney.

    Really hopeful we keep Kagawa.
RVP is still an excellent striker but it's just not working under Moyes, so I'd expect him to be a casualty.

I want Young to leave, please oh please leave.

    Out
    Evra
    Vidic
    RVP

Manchester United have the best away record in the league this season....

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,139 ✭✭✭Shane.C

I wonder would that be down to Moyes and his philosophy of defensive counter attacking football though?

For example, when United play away, they utilize defensive counter attacking football whereas at home the pressure of attacking the opposition is so great due to "United's" philosophy, leaving Moyes and HIS coaching staff lost resulting in us playing poorly.

Hernandez has all the qualities to be an excellent striker for any top club, this idea that he only scores goals and lacks the ability to lead the line is just a myth that has developed due to his limited game time.

People see him come on as a sub and not look terribly impressive but what do they expect, nobody looks the complete player getting only ten minutes here and there. Give Hernandez twenty games in a row at a big club and this idea that he is only a goalscorer will soon disappear.

People have short memories, I believe it was the second half of the 2010/11 season where he kept Berbatov out of the side and formed a great partnership with Rooney. He was given a run in the side and he more than showed his worth, don't forget he started the champions league final and scored 20 goals in his debut season!

"When he starts - not so good"? Thats a load of rubbish really.
