Would this be any good as the basis for a gaming machine

I'm building a new editing machine and these are the bits I'll have left over.

    Gigabyte GA-EP45-DSP3
    Intel Quad Core Q9650
8GB of 1333mhz RAM (not sure what type)

If I added a decent graphics card, would it be any good as a gaming machine? I suspect not great, but wanted to check. If yes, what graphics card would you suggest?

    Thanks

    Looks like DDR2 memory.

You need the PSU specs to determine what Gpu,it can handle if any.

Thanks for the response SterlingArcher. Just shows how out of touch I am with PC building these days! It never even occurred to me that the PSU would be a factor. Is it just the wattage I need to worry about for a graphics card? I have a spare 580w PSU lying around and I also have a 620w one.

    Thanks again

They be perfect if they have pcie Express power connections.

But you may not need these don't want to be getting a big Gpu only to be bottleneck.

Thanks, to be honest, I may just use them for an administrator type PC (for Office, email and such). The CPU is decent, but the rest is a bit old now.

Good to know the psu would be ok though. Thanks for that!
