Insect at night in Bedroom

Not sure if this is the right place. Every night for the last week or so I hear what I assume is some kind of insect every night, from around 9pm onwards. Not sure how to describe the sound, kind of like a cricket, but its not a chirp, its a far duller sound and not high pitched at all, and the 'chirp' sounds shorter. It makes a sound in 3 short blasts, and will be quiet then for a while.

It drove me mad a month or two back, but I could never locate where it was coming from and even thought it might be in my head. Then it disappeared, but now its back. Anyone any ideas what it could be? And how to get rid of it?

If I'm lying in bed it sounds like its coming from above me, but not the ceiling height.

The only thing i can think of is the wing beats of a large moth! May be way off on this one but just reminds me of the sound of a moth when flying close by!

Have you ever hit the light switch whenever you hear the sound?

The lights would still be on a lot of the time, but hear it both in darkness and light. Don't think its a moths wings, sounds more like a 'call'. Its nearly always the same sound. Don't know how to put it in English, bit like a dull 'weh, weh, weh' :o, like 3 cricket chirps in short succession but not at all high pitched

I wonder if it could be bats roosting in the attic?

I don't think so, I'm nearly sure its in the room. Thought it was behind a picture frame one time it was particularly busy making noise so I was able to try and pinpoint it, when I looked behind the frame I couldn't see anything but the noise stopped.
