    Hi All.
lots of foreign sunny training packages available but I don't have the time or Cash after buying a new bike to fly off somewhere.
Does anyone know of any training weekends people can attend in Ireland? preferably south of Dublin?

Im not a member of a club cos I work every other weekend and I don't like letting people down by not turning up.

Assuming you live in Dublin..pick a destination (e.g.Carlow).
Saturday, cycle Dublin, Glencree, Sally Gap, Shay Elliott, Slieve Mann, Baltinglas and Carlow.
Sunday, cycle back to Dublin, similar route, maybe take in Wicklow Gap and Sally Gap.

    Why 'south of Dublin'?

I haven't heard of any 'training weekends' unless organised by a club. There're multiple events starting up now, but most would be considered challenges rather than trainings.

If you don't have anyone to go with and rather have company, you can at least try and organise it here - set a date/time/place and, who knows, someone might just turn up. If nobody turns up - you can always go alone: you've a new bike, enjoy the honeymoon.

Actually - Wales looks like it would be serious hill training country. Ye might get wet heading over unless you get a boat tho.

I'm doing my own thing this weekend. The plan is 60km up to Johnny Foxes on Saturday, 160km up Military Road, Sally Gap then Athlone and 90km doing a lap of the lakes in Athlone. A lot will depend on weather (early morning frost might catch me up around Sally Gap etc).

If I get it all done I#ll be happy (and wrecked)

There was an article in one of the cycling mags this time last year IIRC on the subject of doing a Spring Training week at home aimed at the club cyclist. It set out a plan to follow for someone like the OP who couldn't join his club colleagues in Spain for a week's training but who wanted not to be left behind when they returned all tanned and fit !

The plan scheduled in around 500-600 Km in the week, and included taking a day off and a coulpe of half days from work during the week, some evening turbo sessions and making full use of the weekend Sat and Sun for getting in the miles. The plan was some thing like this.

    Sat - 80 Km
    Sun - 100 Km
Mon (1/2 day morning off) 100Km
    Tues - rest day
Wed (1/2 day afternoon off) 110Km
Thurs - Evening Turbo 1.5 Hrs 50Km equiv.
    Friday (day off) 120 Km

    Sat Rest day
Sun - Club spin with your tanned colleagues !

The plan can be easily adapted in terms of distance and specific sessions.

It was a very good idea/article, if anyone happens to come across it maybe they could give a link/reference on here. With the weather this week such a plan would work very well.
