    Hi Guys,

Currently with Eircom, fairly new customer. My line is set up for 2Mbps broadband :( I am quite far from the exchange. Given the information below, am I lucky to get 2Mbps or should I get a bit more.

When I do a speed test it flat lines at 1.75 and stays at that perfectly. It is like it could do more. Dsl noise margin can be up at 9 quite often. Not sure is higher is better ?

    broadband: Connected
    DSL Mode : ITU G.992.1(G.DMT)
    Speed: 2048 kbps/256 kbps
    Line Attenuation(Down/Up): 61.0 dB/ 31.5 dB
    DSL Noise Margin: 6.5 dB/ 22.0 dB

    Cheers for help

    Attenuation - higher is worse.
S/N ratio - the lower the worse

Higher noise is better. When it drops to 6db or below, your connection drops out.

As long as the attenuation reading is correct(no line faults) then your line would do 2.4 in the lab. No way its making a 3Mb sync. Thats it bud.

Yep, that's it I'm afraid. Your noise margin is 6.5 which is about as low as you can go with it.
