Premature chain wear

    Hoya.
I've put about 1050k on the new bike between road and turbo. I'm running Campag Chorus 11 speed. She is washed after every spin and oiled etc etc

I'm getting severe chain slip / skip in lower (climbing) gears. Cassette looks to have worn.

Is this normal for 1000k. I would have hoped for more K's. Expensive to replace both chain and cassette at this stage.

    Any ideas.

Cable stretch on rd? Not uncommon with new bike.

I get 5k out of shimano chain and 15k from cassette.

From what I hear campag are the most durable chain, so no cassette isn't worn.

    Minor adjustment to rd

Nice groupset best of luck with it

I have nearly 6,000km clocked up on Record 11speed cassette and chain with no issues whatsoever to date. It's certainly time that I actually measured for chain wear but I've experienced no symptoms at all of a worn chain or cassette as yet, and a Chorus chain and cassette arguably should last longer than Record.

Like ford2600 I'd suspect the issue is down to your gears needing adjusting rather than your chain and/or cassette needing replacement. The chain should last a lot more than 1,050km, the cassette far longer still.

    Thanks for the info.

I never thought about readjusting the cable. It makes sence.

I'll let ye know how I get on with it.

All sorted. A few twists of the cable adjuster at the mech. Running sweet again. Thanks
