At this moment in time I'm listening to Pink Just Give me a Reason. She might not be everyones cup of tea but I have to say I think she has a great voice. Tina Turner would be another personal favourite of mine. When it comes to the males I would give hours listening to Kenny Rogers and John Denver with a little bit of Elvis thrown in and for good measure Johnny Cash.
Unfortunately I was asked to mime during the school choir. So AH folks who do you croak to?

Deborah Anne Dyer (Skin) from Skunk Anansie, a voice of such strength and range, she deserves more recognition.

Female - Sinéad O'Connor (even though she's unbalanced she has a really pure singing voice)

Male - I prefer gravelly singers - Bob Dylan etc.

I'm currently here listening to Stevie Nicks, Lyndsey Buckingham and Christine McVie standing around the one microphone in a room making angels cry in the chorus of 'Dreams'; sweet, sweet vocals.

    Fizzy Knickers is better.

As for Sinead O'Connor, there's one person who throws a wonderful voice and ear for a tune into her songs. Mad as a box of frogs, but Jealous is a standout song.

Guitar Heroes at the BBC just happens to be on BBC 4 now. I'm watching Paul Rogers the singer with Free. One of the best voices in rock.

Jim Morrisons whiskey voice is one off the top of my head.

Sinead O Connor is just beautiful to listen to.

    Dusty had a great voice.

Her version of 'Close to You' is very soulful, making it seem almost an entirely different song to the Carpenters version.

Think it was a lake, everything seemed fine with him and he went outside and people followed him out later and then found him.

    Not 100% sure.

Björk probably has the most amazing voice I've ever heard. Dabbles in so many different genres, has an astonishing range, capable of conveying every emotion with her voice, can switch effortlessly between the gentlest whisper and the most ferocious roar. Even if it's not to everyone's taste, her voice is so unique and special.

I think we're all agreed that the power of music is indescribable, really; the old saying that writing about music is like dancing about architecture rings true. But if one is pushed, then the measure of the power of any musical instrument is how much it can summon in the listener the cadence of the human voice: think of your favourite guitar or piano solo; the point of most enjoyment is where it resonates pleasingly with the ear, as if the instrument is, itself, singing. The counterpoint to this, I suppose, is that we most appreciate a singer who can summon the sound of an imagined instrument, one that speaks of things we do not know we know; and so the best instrument is the voice itself.

For me its a grab you by the guts and almost give you diarrohea feeling I look for....or as a mate describes love "butterflies and the shi*ts"

Female vocalist wise its has to be Bjork (already mentioned) and Tory Amos. They reach into my soul.

Male its a more soulful sound like Roland Gift (Fine Young Cannibals.....also the nicest celeb I have ever met) or John Mayer. They just tickle you in places you like to be tickled. Nom nom nom.

Yeah am drunk but they would be my top 4 vocalists of all time on a musicality scale but Ian Brown on a performer scale and Thom Yorke on a wow can I just marry your lungs and have babies with them scale.

Adele said that she went to a Pink concert and described the power of Pink's vocals as being in a wind tunnel.

If someone with Adele's pipes says that about a singer, that singer must be pretty damn good.

I would have to throw in a few:

    Pink
    Adele
    Dusty Springfield
    Aretha Franklin
    Sinead O' Connor
    Joan Armatrading
    Grace Slick

    Art Garfunkel
    Elvis Presley
    Geoff Tate
    Freddie Mercury
