its not good for boards to lose anybody really

if your a newbie in the gas/oil game I think it should nearly be compulsory that you join boards

if you go back over the years of posts there is hardly any problem out there that hasn't been discussed in some shape make or form here on boards

Sometimes a reply has peed me off.
Sometimes my replys has peed others off.
No offense was ever intended by anybody.

My thanks to Garry71 for pointing out to me how harmless words and replys can be unintentaly picked up wrong.

I agree with all the above, and would love Shane to return, I have spoken with him at length, but he is adamant he wants no more part of it here. Hopefully that could soften in time!?!

All input, is always welcome and agree totally he always added much more than he detracted from the forum.

He did approach the CER over said conversation and they confirmed that ND gas was an unregulated industry (for now) and responsibility lays with the workman, overseen in case of accident by the HSA.
IS820 is essentially a code of practice, not a legal document.

I could never understand why people get so heated that they feel they need to actually close their accounts, a weeks break here and there is good for the sole. And I'm fine Gary/DBOGS just now.

I respected his brain but not his bed side manners !

Nobody can deny how helpfull he was. Even if he got me banned before.!!!!

We will all have difference of opinions from time to time, unfortunately it can come across wrong via this type of text replys.

Some guys I have phone contact with, which I think is 100% better.

But once we all respect that we all ment well, . ( and can polity correct each other ) then that's also good.
we have got to know each other and have grown to respect each others imput.

then life goes on.+ Boards



Its the DIY "know it all" idiots here who drive me ballistic.

I know when I can add good imput, and I also know when there are better informed guys to give the replys.

well put agusta I think the number of thanks this post has received already shows the respect shane holds on boards from the regular posters and at the end of the day its the regulars that keep boards at no 1 :o

My reasons for closing my account are unknown to most & nothing to do with throwing toys out of prams, etc.
My biggest problem is myself. I am too passionate & the system we work within sucks. So I felt that I was/am unsuitable to give advice to people. Nothing to do with others, just down to me.
Unfortunately, I still feel the same.

but its this passion that may help to fix/change what you and others see wrong with the system you disappearing into the mist wont help

As a lot here have noticed we have quite opposite approaches to the common good.
We all get peed off from time to time.
Ye all know what serious issue that I'm here for.
But the goal is the same.

And thats what is needed in the industry, people with passion, pride in their work and regards for the safety of others.
Thats whats makes you, and the other folk like you here, most suitable to be giving their time and offering advise to others.

For me, it has nothing to do with other/fellow contributors here on Boards. As I said, the problem is with myself. If I felt in my heart of hearts that I could not competently dot all the i's & cross all the t's when I am ticking those 4 boxes on my gas Certs, so I can ensure I am leaving the people that I am taking money from safe in their environment, then I would leave the gas industry. Boards is a public place & I found to my dismay that I am unsuitable to give that advice.

Nobody more than me misses Boards P&H & contributing to it in an industry that is part of me, but I could not let a repeat of that thread ever destroy my passion again.
It is also absolutely nothing to do with pride. When the CER told me a 5 year old can legally work on non-domestic gas, my first phone call was to Tony to tell him I was wrong. It did not change my beliefs but re-enforced them. It is also why I generally do not post regarding issues on gas in the DIY forum as that is the DIY forum. When people come into this forum, they are seeking professional advice & I feel now I cannot fulfill that as that thread made an arse of my beliefs.
