When/how to diagnose migraine?

    Hey there!

I wanted to ask if anyone has any advice when/how to diagnose migraine, I think I might be suffering from it but it's not confirmed by a doctor yet.

Can I simply go to my GP at any time or should it be when/shortly after the potential migraine attack? And can my GP actually diagnose it or should I go to a specialist?

    Thanks. :)

Go to your gp. Migraine has many different symptoms both before and during a attack and no one online can diagnose it-or are allowed to!

Anytime will do though try and keep a diary of dates and symptoms-and maybe a food diary.
A specialist in migraines is a neurologist, you'd be referred by a gp if it was needed but see the gp first to find out if you actually have migraines or bad headaches.

Agree with the above, you must go to your GP and no one here is allowed to offer advice relating to diagnosis. However, do definitely keep a food diary (the doc will likely tell you to anyway, so you'll have a head start). Include drinks too, and also how you're feeling each day...my migraines can be triggered by too much cheese, chocolate, coffee and red wine, and I'll often get one just before my period. Hope you can get yourself sorted quickly, migraines are monstrous things.

    Hey there!

Oh, I think there might have been a misunderstanding (I shouldn't post when I'm sleepy...), I didn't ask any of you to dignose it, I wanted to know when it's the best time to go to my GP - basically if I could go right now, though I don't feel any pain right now.

But thanks a million, this has helped a lot already!
