Saw this in a scrap yard earlier.

Insurance costs are killing off what could be a fantastic classic.

The same scrap yard had a crashed red one up until a few months ago.

Why didn't you buy it for 200 euro ?

Im assuming that it there is something fundementally wrong with it (blown engine or something) and its not just parked up there by someone who cant afford to insure it? I find it hard to believe someone would scrap a perfectly functioning FTO, even if they are hard to insure.

No wheels, brake assembly, steering column or notable interior and someone was haggling over the price for the engine as I was taking parts off the car beside it.

Othwise I would have offered a good price as the ex who took mine is looking to sell in the next month or two and never hurts to have a donor.

You'd be very surprised. There are plenty of good cars gone to the scrap yard in this country because their owners couldnt afford to run them.

It looks like its been sat up for ages with all the moss growing on it. Why would you want it when you could pick up a decent one for half nothing?

Good few fto-ireland members here. Don't suppose any of you know the story behind why it ended up there?

Because they are a very rare sight nowadays so it could come in handy as a parts car.

That poor Focus, in a dashing shade of navy and all! I hope it wasn't a tax beating 1.4, that would be an unholy crime :(:(:(

The point I was trying to make is that you could make one good car out of two.

That's FTOny's old car. No idea how it ended up in that state. Haven't seen it in the flesh since 2009.

Probably underbody rust that killed it. Big dent on the roof there.

Tis a shame if it was, the body and paint looked ok under the moss.
A little care and attention to undersealing goes a long way.
    Engine bay looked very tidy.
