I.D Dilemma

Myself and my girlfriend have organised a celebration night out in Kilkenny next week, when it just dawned on me; I haven't got neither an age card, passport or driving licence. Is there any other form of valid identification I can present - within the space of 7 days - without making an idiot of myself? (I lost my passport years ago and never intended on buying one; too expensive, and I'm not planning any trips abroad...)

I'm 24 years old and I really shouldn't feel the need to be worrying about things like this but knowing my luck, I'll probably get refused entry everywhere.

Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks in advance.

Bring your mammy, she can tell the bouncers you're over 18.

What have you been using up until now?

Whatever about tonight, get your passport sorted out. Did you ever even report it lost? Your passport is the most valuable document you'll ever own.

    Don't panic.

Any bouncer asks for ID you respond with: "D'you wanna work hard for your money tonight?"

    You'll sail right in ;)

How old is your girlfriend? If she gets in you probably will too.
    A 24yo girl won't go out with a 17yo boy.

Thought this was about 1D. My bad.

You don't have an ID. Just say simply and matter of factly. "I'm 24, I haven't carried ID in years". If that doesn't work, take your money somewhere else because they are unreasonable dicks. :)

Love the "bring your mammy" comment, made me buckle. LOL

She's 22 I'm 24, she has the whole shabang, passport, licence and age-card. I used to trust fate, lads. In Waterford I knew what nightclubs' bouncers asked I.D and which ones didn't. I was lucky enough. I've never been out in Kilkenny before and I've heard it's really strict with I.D, especially Langton's club and the Left Bank.

We're celebrating a very long and depressing clearance of a bill we never thought we would clear, took almost a year and I've never been so relieved in my life. Both of us aren't heavy clubbers, I used to be but I only go out to the pub very rarely........

I would use my birth cert but, who does that?? Big A4 yoke of paper to get into a nightlub, ha, looks like I'm buying the deeds to the land. Anyway, I did apply for an age-card just there and if, by the next week or so, if I'm still not able to get anything sorted, there's always the following week.

I was just exploring any possible options. Thanks lads

Cut yourself in half and have the bouncer count the rings.

Sure if you're not big clubbers you could always just head down as planned and hit the pubs and chance your arm. As long as you've your head on you and if your gf has ID then you might be fine

Ye can get a passport in five days. Have to pay for it though. €55 charge to get it in three days and it'll cost €95 for the passport itself as I'd say you'd have to go to the passport office in person.

Having lost a passport might complicate things. Ye'll have to go to your local Garda station, report it stolen and get a form off them confirming this. Bring it, your birth cert, passport photos and your wallet with you to the passport office.

Dept of Foreign Affairs to show I'm legit.

Jayus lad the legal age is 18. You're out with your misses. Chill out. Unless you both look like a teenage pregnancy couple straight from Jeremy Kyle, you'll be fine.

I think you'd be very surprised in Kilkenny, seen a 30 year old friend be refused because of no ID. This man wouldn't be refused a pension he looks that old.

I'd be there a lot and never once seen or heard of anyone get refused. At this stage they have people outside the bars trying to get you in like you're in Santa Ponsa

That my friend is the polite way bouncers have to tell unwanted patrons to fkoff

Was out in Kilkenny a few weeks ago on a Friday night. Most of the pubs were dead so I can't imagine they can be too fussy for custom. The only packed pub was the Left Bank and that was full of all age groups so I wouldn't worry too much OP.

More valuable that the billion euro Anglo bearer bond I have in my back pocket? Don't think so. You clearly haven't seen Die Hard enough times.

The passport office are sound if you go in needing one quickly. Mine was stolen earlier in the week, I'm heading off on Thursday. They sorted it out, I'll have it for Wednesday afternoon. Expensive as fook, but when the other option was missing a friend's wedding, it's really not a choice.

When I was 23 I was still getting asked for ID to get into pubs. But I always responded with "I'm 23 mate and dont really want to be bringing my passport with me to pubs anymore" (said in a "dont wanna lose it" way)

Always let me in. So op, just go in without ID.

How do you not have any form of identification at 24? Travelling, driving..... so what do you do when you do get id'd? Just leave? Bizarre

As I said earlier in the thread, I always went out in Waterford and I went to the same places every time, never got asked.
