    Hi,
I'm looking for a dress to wear to a confirmation next month. Something along the lines of a day dress but nothing too short or tight. I'm going to Galway next week but I'm not from there so can anyone advise of good shops to try? I only really know where the likes of new look, river island etc are so if anyone knows of any shops that do nice occasion wear or any boutiques that aren't too expensive please let me no.
    Thanks!

Born is a good place to check out, they're in Oranmore and in the Galway shopping centre just outside town, and there's a store in town too, not sure of the street name. https://www.facebook.com/bornclothing
There's a couple of nice, well priced boutiques on Abbeygate street too, I think it's the second turn left off Shop street. Carraig Donn could be worth a look (I'm not that familiar with the Galway store but I've picked up a few dresses like you described in their other locations) it's beside Marks and Spencer in the Corrib centre.

Thank you! I have heard people mention born before so I will definitely try there!

It's hit and miss at times, but some of their stuff is really nice. I've found the Oranmore shop better than the one in town so could be worth the short drive if you don't find what you're looking for straight away :) Happy shopping!

You have all the usual high street shops (although we don't have a Zara)..but you have Oasis, Next, River Island etc.

There is also a French Connection shop down Church Lane. I would look there for an outfit as they usually have lovely stuff.

Brown Thomas is of course also worth checking out. They have some lovely stuff in at the moment.

I'm not a huge fan of Born myself..it's fine for jeans and little tops but I find their dresses very 'teenager' and very short and a bit 'cheapo' iykwim. Just not my cup of tea personally!

Monsoon is also worth checking out..they can have some nice dresses.

The Kilkenny Shop is worth a look too..they do Orla Kiely and Guess.

I agree with all your points but still maintain that Born is worth a look: my sister in law bought a dress there for her brother's wedding in the style described by the OP, and in fact had 3 dresses to choose from any of which would have been suitable. Yes there were plenty of cheap and nasty, bottom-skimming, body-con dresses too, but it's worth trawling through these as you just might find a gem amongst them!!
I love the dresses in the Kilkenny Shop, they always have something a little bit different and perfect for occasionwear :)

Thanks so much both of ye! I don't know Galway very well so it's good to get the opinion of people that do. I have a great selection of shops now to try, hopefully I will find something nice!
