Anyone still get growing pains?

Right now I'm lying on the couch debating whether or not to hack off my left leg. I had forgotton the crippling pain that comes in waves from "growing pains". I used to get them a lot as a kid but grew out of it. My left leg started to get sore a couple of hours ago and it's really bad now. I think the mother used to use Deep Heat but I have none of that. God I hope this is just a once off :(

Are growing pains common in adults?

I get growing pains but not from growing up, they're from growing out.

Growing pains aren't a real thing... You probably just have a cramp. Stretch a bit and walk about.
if that doesn't sort it out... we'll just have to remove your legs.

Man, I do still get those! It's so anoying... tough I don't think it's caused by "growing" haha

I never had growing pains, I always though it was just a stupid term for "teen anguish" or some other such rubbish.

No growth spurt = no growing pains.

I didn't choose the short life, the short life chose me.

No, kids get them at night... random muscle pain, probably from running around/into things. Like DOMS or something...
people used to think they were caused by the bone lengthening and stretching nerves but it's a muscle pain.
More common in girls or so I'm told?
I don't think I've ever heard a man talk about them.

Apparently they don't actually coincide with growth spurts...
they say they are common but I've been flicking through Google and the stats say things like between 3 and 45% of cchildren get them... that's a massive swing...

Used to get awful leg cramps, from having not stretched before PE (brilliant teacher never taught us that part) and yeah my mam used to always brush it off as growing pains. I was like wtf, why would growing be painful, and tried explaining i knew it was from PE. Not just from no stretching but also from having been lazy all weekend, having PE on Mondays

I never got them and always put it down to not having a growth "spurt". Ah well, guess I'm just lucky :o

Has it been raining where you live? I always know when it's going to rain, my left leg aches like a bitch from the old ligament injuries.

Ha ha I know they're nothing to do with growing but they're definitely real. It's gone now thankfully.

Oh Jesus I'll never forget the pain of growing pains.

I had to go regularly go to harcourt street hospital because I got such bad pains in my right knee. I once got stuck in a little tikes car - those yellow and red ones - in the waiting room!

They never found anything wrong with me but a few nights ago I got the very same pain in my right knee. Ouchiiiiiies.

Heard of them but never experianced them.

I think they happen with teenagers who have sudden growth spurts.

Never happened with me. I grew very gradually.

I had to give up playing sport at about 17 because I had growth spurts so bad that they were causing early on-set arthritis on my hips.

Got back running regularly recently and completed my first 5K and 10K runs last year but still have to take it easy. Hips would have me in agony for weeks on end if I over do it.

Fecking growth spurts. Didn't even make me discernibly taller

I get them they are very real. I've been getting them ( or whatever pain my mother called growing pains) since I was 2. Ended up in hospital as they didn't know what it was. I get them in my shin bones not muscles. My mother used to always say it was going to rain when I got them and it usually did...
