NCT - querying a fail

Went for NCT today, failed because they wouldn't/couldn't test the emissions cos oil levels were "dangerously high". Went straight to mechanic where always get my work done, because I thought might be something seriously wrong, oil levels perfect, saw the dip stick with my own eyes. Returned to NCT centre, closed for lunch and I had to get back to work for 2pm.
So what do I do now...? I can go back tomorrow to talk to Team Lead apparently ( so Customer Service told me) and/or I can make a complaint. I don't want to pay retest fee of 28euro because as far as I am concerned they shouldn't have failed it in the first place.
    What are my chances?

Are you sure it was the engine oil level?
Hard to believe they did such a mistake - no matter how incompetent the tester was.

The problem now is that you left the NCT centre without resolving this.
They will now claim that the oil level was too high when you 1st presented the vehicle, and that you have now removed some oil to bring the level down to where it should be.
Probably going to take a lot of convincing to get them to retest it without a fee.
Best of luck anyway with the test.

The second you left the centre you pretty much lost your case. You should have ask them to explain the situation in clear terms and had it verified i.e. Get two testers to show why the oil was high etc. They will just claim you lowered the engine oil level when you left as there is no evidence to the contrary.
