    Hi,

just looking for some advice. When driving my car the weekend, i lost power and the turbo wasnt kicking in. The car was driving fine but just no power whatsoever.

Turned the car off and started it again. EMC light came on. I was getting a mechanic mate to do the timing belt so got him to do the diagnostics test on it with the proper diagnostics equipment in garage.

    showing up that is 16787 - EGR Valve (N18), P0403 - 000 - malfunction - intermitent.

after he did the timing belt he turned his attention to egr valve. Said he would clean it out (turned out it was filthy) and seemed ok but that evening code came back and emc light is on with no power.

Going to replace the valve but any other comments?

I've had the same problem with my 2005 A4 BKE engine. I have had the EGR replaced twice!! The head gasket done last September and I broke down last night on the M7 again with plumes of white smoke and no coolant! I'm thinking its the oil cooler.

On your problem, cleaning the EGR isn't that hard to do yourself, there are plenty of do it yourself manuals online if you are any way handy with cars, note that you will need the rubber gaskets if you try it yourself as they will need to be replaced. I have cleaned mine and it only lasted a few months and had to get it changed. I would advise buying a new one as a second hand one is the reason I had to change it out again the second time. Major fault with these cars! AUDI should have recalled this issue! Absolute Boll**ks!

    that is a sh%te buzz!

I got mine replaced two days ago and everything is perfect at the moment! Don't want to talk too soon. From what I can see the car is doing better MPG and is definietly packing a lot more power when turbo is kicking in.

When yours went first was there a load of white smoke? I just lost power, car seemed to be driving perfectly but just no power. Now with the new EGR valve the code is no longer coming up, so hopefully will have no further trouble!!!
Did seem to be a bit of oil around that hose connecting to the valve?!
