Belling Kensington oven clock

    Long shot but here goes...

I've got a Belling Kensington oven like this one

That oval you can see between the gas knobs (with the 3 little buttons under it) it a digital clock / timer.

It's become dislodged & so now when you press the buttons they just physically move the clock rather than do what they're supposed to do (change time etc)

This means I can't user the timer on the oven.

I think if I could just get to the "inside" of where the clock is I could just clip it back on to something but the problem is I can't see where you take the front panel off.

    Anyone out there done similar?

normally the knobs have to be removed to gain access to the screws that hold the panel in place, you may have screws also along the bottom edge of the panel , make sure you isolate the mains if you attempt repairing it

Thanks for the reply but there's no screws behind the knobs

Are there nuts on the shafts of the knobs, it may be these that are holding the panel in place.

    Nope no nuts.

    Thanks for the reply though.

OP here - got the panel off.

Thought I'd list how for anyone who ever finds this thread with the same problem.
    • Turn off the power supply
    • Remove all the knobs
    • Open oven doors & remove 4 black screws from under the front panel - remove the black strip bar
    • On top remove the 6 screws that hold the hob part onto the front panel
    • Pull the oven out slightly & remove the screw on the side at the front top (do this on both sides) - this should loosen the top of the 2 'knuckels' on each side
    • Under the 'knuckles' are 2 more screws (if you use a long screwdriver you can get to them without having to remove the oven door.
    • Pull out the 'knuckles' and ease the front panel off starting at the top - do this slowly or you may dislodge the wires.
    • Oven clock is now accessible.
    • Reverse of above to restore - careful with the 'knuckles' - I cracked one of mine

BTW - the oven clock housing was cracked - that's why the clock became loose. Fixed it back in place with super-glue!

    Hi there,
Provider of the brilliant instructions here... :)

It's been a year since I did this but don't know why the knobs might not go back on especially when some of them did.

Vaguely remember having issues with one of the knobs and I think it was missing a silver cylinder from inside the knob that should attach onto the 'knob holder' thing.

Can you take off one of the ones that did go on ok and see if there's a silver cylinder in it?

    Hi Brilliant

Many thanks for your quick reply. You were right! The cylinder thingies were missing they were pushed right down the spindles and were hardly visible! Still can't work out how that happened. Now I've just got to get some superglue to really nail the digital timer down and hope there are no more power cuts before I do it. Again many many thanks for all your help. Best wishes Flissa.

    Good stuff.
    Good luck with the gluing.
