For those who don't know what Russia Today is, it is a English Language news broadcaster that presents news from a Russian perspective, They are always the first to bounce on US foreign policy , yet when Russia invades a Sovereign Country they can justify it. Russia isn't some victim in this world, it is almost totalitarian, Opposes Homosexuality, It unlawfully invaded afghanistan in 1979.and often jails journalists who go against the regime, Russia is just as bad as the US if not worse.

I'm surprised that you say Russia are almost as bad as the US. I think most people would be of the opinion that Russia are worse than the US in this regard.
Personally I think they're very similar.

**That was a party political broadcast on behalf of the Central Intelligence Agency.**

Tomorrow, Fox News, the impartial observer of justice and truth.

RT have great nature programmes though

I fail to see any point. You start of against Russia today, move on to Russia and finish with the USA

And the US networks are presenting a balanced perspective?

Some of their documentaries are very good. Also handy to have different perspective, even if it is very biased.

You can imagine "Reeling in the years" 20 years from now playing this back.

    The Caption will read:

"Despite 2014 being a year of stellar broadcasting technological capabilities, former Irish state broadcaster still manages to fuck up even the most routine tasks.

Little do they know, this faux pas will set in motion a chain of events that will culminate with the demise of the station just 6 months later.

Brian Dobson and Ryan Turbidy move to a late night edition of celebrity bum fights (refereed by Vinny B) on TV3"

This will be set to the music of Garth Brooks.

    End.

Pfff, screw this NSA watching everybody stuff, I'm actually on a published CIA watch list.
Russia ... unlawfully invaded afghanistan in 1979
Strictly speaking, wasn't that the USSR? They would of course, deny it was an invasion and rely on the repeated requests from Afghanistan. ;)

Russia is mostly nasty to its own people and those around them. The USA is nasty to other people while facilitating (some of) its own.

It's a hell of a lot better than Sky, BBC, Fox etc. Very biased towards Russia, as you would expect, but most of it's other coverage is great compared to other stations.

What's all this not Russian stuff?

Last night during Prime time the sound messed up and went on a repeat loop even as the pictures moved on.

The piece ended, back to the studio and all through the ADS, the sound repeated "IRISH RUSSIAN NOT UKRAINIAN" or something like that.

It has captured the country's imagination.

people forget very quickly that 7 world leaders met Putin on Irish soil intent on arming the crazy al queda linked rebels in Syria and that the 7 of them left that meeting with their tail between their legs. Some seriously hypocritical $hitetalk coming out of the united stasi of america the last few days too, John Kerry lecturing about going into "sovereign" states on dodgy pretexts, ya couldn't make it up!!

I can't believe this is being viewed as an unjustified invasion by Russia. They are being welcomed into a region by people who rue the day they were cut off from Russia. The ultra-nationalist psychos fighting against them are being scarily portrayed ("misportrayed") by the Western media.

So many inaccuracies, it's hard to know where to start.

If you watched some of the news today you would see there are many Russian speaking people in Crimea and in the east of Ukraine who are equally opposed to the intervention of Russia. There are also many people in Russia who are opposed to the intervention, but seeing as Russia has no real media for opposition voices, it goes largely unreported. I don't think the Tatars who hate the Russians with a vengence welcome the intervention, but I doubt you care about them or the discrimination they will now experience.

The law as it currently stands states the Crimea is part of Ukraine. You can't in the 21st century just redraw the map unilatterly and claim parts of other countries as your own, just like that.

As for the misportrayel of the "ultra-nationalists", I was watching an interview with two old women in Crimea on the news this evening. One old woman said the nationalists were worse than the SS, had machine guns, and were going around Crimea threathening people. The other woman, who by the way was pro Russian, said don't exagerate they had no machine guns.

Just as with Syria where people of your ilk portray even peaceful protestors as AQ maniacs, you also try to portray some protestors in the Ukraine as bad as the SS, when they are nothing of the sort.

From what I see the major misportrayals come from the pro Russians in the main who try to make out the government in Kiev are Nazis and SS and all that.

Really refreshing to hear the other side of the coin imo. Fox, Sky, CNN, RTE all sing from the same hymn sheet and it always backs up the west as the good guys (which they are at times but often are not).

Agree with most of the others that is always worth seeing the view from the other side of the road. Sure they may have their fair share of (slightly upfront) propaganda but who doesn't have their own interests propping up lead stories. Anyone of intelligence can always read through the line and come to a balanced view.

It's worth watching also - just to see Max Kaiser go into a rage about the potential value growth of silver commodities.

Bear in mind another outsider news channel on sky was blocked last just year because camarooney didn't agree with them...

you are correct, I just assumed she was Russian.
I did not know RT had an office in DC.
I was think it would have been nuts to do that if you were in russia at the given moment.

Still tho fair play to her.
