Upgrade or new build?

So I made this machine a couple of years ago with the great help of this board and I think it's time for an upgrade.

I've been checking out everything in relation to my current components and really on the fence if I should change things up completely or just fire in some newer hardware.

    Here's the original build.

Machine has done me well. I mainly game on one monitor but occasionally fire on the eyefinity for some 5760x1200 goodness. 3*Dell 2407.

The board is limited to i5-3570K/i7-3770K cpu so my main question I guess is getting a new CPU/MB and GPU. 770 has caught my eye in terms of GPU. PSU will have to go as well either way.

Is a Xeon an option? Leaning towards an i7 either way. DayZ loves the CPU. I multibox WoW which isn't a massive strain tbh. Play a wide ranges of other games but I do like to record and stream as well.

Budget isn't a big deal, mainly getting good bang for my buck without leaving myself short in 2 yrs time.

Would love to get some input on the whole thing. :)

    TIA

Can you paste your current build in this thread? I had a quick look and it wasn't immediately obvious what parts you actually purchased in the end.

Personally go new. If you are replacing so much then limiting your specs simply to keep an old mobo? Does not make sense. As mobo is one of the cheapest parts.

The 2500K is a very good processor. It would be a complete waste of money upgrading it. Do you have a cooler for it and overclock it? Should be pushing 4.4Ghz at least with that processor. There is very little difference between the i5 2500k, 3570k and the 4670k. Its very easy to overclock

From your other build all that really needs to be upgraded is your graphics card. Have a look at the R9 290's.

The power supply you have is perfectly fine for a single GPU system.

If you absolutely feel you need to upgrade, I'd upgrade to a 3770k, there isn't too much of a difference between that and the 4770k, or upgrade the GPU, I wouldn't do both since your PC is still really good by todays standard.

Didn't see your original build. Is a fine one as suggested New Gpu. Maybe Fresh install, and Gpu.

    Wouldn't upgrade till broadwell.

Ya just noticed that most of those links do not work anymore. Here is a pic of the order at least.

Yeah, gpu upgrade will do wonders. Not much to be gained on anything else.

    R9 290

    212 evo for overclocking

Rest of your components are fine and would be a waste of money really upgrading the processor.

He already has the HR-02 Macho cooler, as far as I know it's better than the evo 212.

cool cool, checked that before leaving work. Seem they are pretty close.

Have had it running at 4.4 for a while but tuned it down to cut back on the heat and noise.

Started checking in to the 290s primarily looking at the sapphire tri-x models.

For a 290 this is the best deal you can get. Its even cheaper than the reference cards :)
