bird activity ????

    I get lots of bird(tits,robins,sparrows etc) activity in my garden in the mornings ,but in afternoon it all pretty much disappears, also have 2 tits very active in a nest box in mornings but not much in afternoon, what are they all upto :confused::confused::confused::confused:?

    Probably busy defending their territories or resting! I notice the same feeding pattern at my own feeders in good weather in spring - birds will be around early morning and in the afternoon, with little happening in between. They will probably be out establishing and defending their territories, etc.

    You notice a very similar pattern in bird activity in woodland and/or very hot conditions (bird activity peaking in the first couple of hours after sunrise, dropping off before picking up in the afternoon again).

    Mornings are more frantic as there is a need to refuel - particularly if it was a cold night. Much like a hearthy breakfast to start before you get on with the business of the day.
