I got the netflix in recently a few weeks ago, is there a way to be able to view the american netflix selection and watch tv programmes and films from other netflix selections for other areas/regions ?

netflix knows what country you're in and you can only access the content avaiable to that country.

however you can trick them into thinking you're in America, you need to use a DSN blocker (like this one for example)
although not illegal it is in breach of netflixs terms and conditions
