    Hi ..
Had my 01 Honda Accord for it's NCT today and it failed for :

Steering Linkage (43) / Locking Devices / Missing / Offside Front.

NCT guy said it was missing a small self locking gromit ? ... Told me to get one, pop it in and bring it back for a quick visual then my cert would be issued to me ....

.... now , anybody got any idea what it is Im supposed to go and get and will I get one in a Motor Factors ?

Any help - greatly appreciated - thanks.

OK ... so it was a split pin that was missing ... got one in my local Motor Factor for €0.20 ... now I just have to figure out where it's missing from !

Presumably the ball joint on the O/S track rod? Have a look at this image, you can see the hole in the ball joint where the split pin goes and slots into the castle nut. It might be worth checking the nut for torque also, as without a split pin there's nothing stopping it from loosening.

That's off a Defender, but an Accord has an identical arrangement on the ball joint.
