I have an ageing desktop PC and sudden small budget to get a new PC. But I'm starting with very little info, what I can get for our budget. Any help, starting builds, etc. would be appreciated.

    1. What is your budget?

    €400 - €500

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer?
    1. Family PC
    2. Gaming
    3. Digital Art (gimp, wacom tablet, etc.)
    4. Programming

As for gaming, any decent level of gaming - I'd love to be able to play Skyrim at a reasonable rate. I haven't been able to play any modern PC games for the last 5 years or so. I'm not looking for (or expecting) a top of the line machine.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows?

    Yes.

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Hard drive/DVD Drive/Case/PSU/etc.] (If possible state brand and model of the parts to ensure compatibility)

To be honest, not sure what is salvagable from our current PC, it's over 13 years old. It has a DVD RW (_NEC_DVD_RW ND_3550A). I have two HDDs, 120G and 150G, but would like much more space.

    5. Do you need a monitor?

    No.

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [19'/20'/22'/24'/etc.]

    -

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080/1440x900/etc.] [Yes/No]

Short term, no plans to upgrade. Long term maybe.

Current monitor only has a max reslution of 1280x1024, 32bit, 60Hz (Samsung SynMaster 920N)

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals?

Hoping to reuse a lot of what I have already but would like a
    • New wireless card
    • Card reader
    • Blue ray player

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking?

Not straight up, but maybe in the future.

    8. How can you pay?

    Credit Card/Laser

    9. When are you purchasing?

    Sometime in the next month

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based?

I'm hoping I won't need any help building it. (But just in case South Dublin/wicklow)
