HTC One suddenly not connecting to 3G on Three

    Hi all,

I've had an unlocked, sim free unbranded HTC One on Three for a few months. Everything always worked fine.

For the past 5 days, it has gone mental.

I noticed originally that I consistently had no service a few days ago. Rebooting the phone resulted in signal returning, albeit 2G only, roaming on Vodafone (as it does when Three 3G is unavailable). Even at that, internet was impossible at EDGE speeds.

However, the signal dropped to no service again after 5 minutes. Everytime. So I was missing calls and texts.

I went to a Three shop yesterday in Cork. I spent 40 minutes with your man trying to figure it out to no avail. He tried another sim in my phone, same issue with a different sim, therefore phone is at fault, not network.

Tried the *#*#4636#*#* code, selected GSM/WDCMA/LTE auto option. Still only 2G roaming available, still dropping signal after few mins. Tried all the band settings in that menu, including GSM only, WDCMA preferred, which resulted in no service at all. Could not slove the issue.

Could someone please please help? I really am at a loss!

    Anyone?

Oddly that happened to my older HTC and my current S4. The more I use Three the less I like them.
However you might want to perform a factory reset on the phone, use HTC sync to back everything up. Back up all your photos onto a computer. Make sure all your cloud backups are on > Settings >Accounts ; making sure all available options are selected to sync. And switch sync on and off.

Once done settings >Back up and reset >Wipe phone.

Failing that you may want to flash a new network Radio but it gets completed here...

Did you try your SIM in another phone?

Trying another SIM in your phone won't rule out a network issue.

I have lost my 3g signal too since last week. I can only get 2G/EDGE on Vodafone. No 3g simcard works in my phone but my simcard works perfectly in my two old phones? I reset the phone to no avail. My phone is a Chinese phone I have had for a few weeks so until I saw your post today I assumed I had been sold a dud although it had worked flawlessly until the signal went.

I'm as lost as you I'm afraid.

EDIT: O are you rooted btw? I am.

Ok just found an old unused 3 broadband sim and put it in my phone. I am now getting the H+ Symbol but very slow or non-existent data speeds. Some data is clearly getting through so I don't think my Antenna is broken. My old phone and current simcard are still functioning normally(Even getting better coverage than I had before tbh)

    Very confusing

Not rooted. Phone was purchased in Carphone Warehouse, an sim-free unbranded.

Long and short of it, HTC suspect an Antenna issue, so I have posted it to one of the two authorised repair agents in Dublin as it is still under warranty (be nice if they had a repair centre somewhere other than Dublin........)

If it comes back, and still has the same issues, I don't know what I can do other than cancel contract (only on 30 day rolling) and jump ship to someone else.
