Rang Friday for the third time this week and I've been told no dates available until may anywhere in the south east.

    Anyone else having trouble.

Also is it true that If they cant give you a date within 28 days your entitled to a free test

They offer to put you on a shortlist and they will contact you with an appointment that is within 28 days of you contacting them.

Did they not offer this on the phone.

I have four appointments in Cahir in the 10 days, all made this way.

That's true, but only if you request a booking with 28 days.

All you need to do is to ring them and tell them that you are requesting appointment within 28 days.
They might not provide it straight away, but most likely in few days, they will let you know when is your test, and it's going to be within 28 days, as otherwise they would have to give to you for free, which is not what they want to do.

I've been having the same problem in Limerick. When I try to book online using car reg and date of first registration the system can't find my car so I rang to book. I rang them last Tuesday and was told there were no dates available until next May but I would be put on a priority list and would definitely get a test within 28 days. Still haven't got a date yet so rang again this morning and still no dates. They did have a record of me calling last week however.

Before anyone says I could have booked the test before the NCT ran out, I only bought the car a couple of weeks ago and was waiting for the ownership documents to come in the post.

Naas seems to be very good; I have never waited more than a fortnight for a test or retest.

    Yeah
I have a Dublin and a Kildare address so it doesn't matter if I get naas or dublin dates for NCT once there is a date!
I used to use Fonthill but they are busier recently - hence the naas one.

I've had a few NCTs there now and I always seem to get the same grumpy bald man. Random - although I always passed first time so maybe not time to complain :P
