Help with a car for my aunt.

Hi all, my aunt is looking to upgrade her car in the next few months, and I'm looking for suggestions to give her.

Budget: max 10k
Petrol or Diesel
Daily Mileage : 100km road trip to the airport anything up to 6 days a week
Needs : space for a samsonite suit case in the boot and not to big a car.

she has an 03 polo to trade in as well, she has only ever driven the polo but she is open to suggestions.

I'd think a brand new Suzuki swift at 12995 is hard to beat even though I'd normally never recommend a new car, three years warranty and some tax inc too :eek:

she might get a reasonable allowance on her polo to bring it in nearer budget.

If she liked the polo then the golf would be a decent choice.

How about a newer polo. Not the most exciting thing to do but it's a vastly improved car.

lovely car I like them myself but i dont think her stupid big case would fit in the boot, its a tight squeeze in the polo as it is.

I would say chances are thats what she is going to buy, but i just want to give her a few other suggestions since I have the misfortune of having to go with her when shes looking:rolleyes:

You could get a much lower mileage petrol for the same price.

My mum has an i30 in that spec and its a cracker.
Most 09s only have half leather too which makes that one more appealing.

If it's a brand new small car she's after then the New Hyundai i10 (only released) gets great reviews.I know it's in the city car segment, but it is said to have grown a bit on the last model. In fact from some of the reviews they are saying it could be Hyundai's best car to date, not often you would hear that of a city car.I think it does look much better than the outgoing model too.Sadly the 1.2l engine does not seem to be available here, but the 1.0 3 cylinder kappa engine seems to get decent reviews on the youtube reviews. Not sure what that 1.0l engine is like long term?

Long warranty is also a bonus.

If she is barley fitting the case into the boot of a Polo then I would say that will rule out smaller city cars. The Polo's boot would be average size for the class so she will really need to look at the next size up (Golf class) for a decent sized boot.
