Hey Folks, I posted this in another thread which seems to have gone quiet so was hoping for some opinions!

    Case:Corsair Obsidian 250D - 82.61
    CPU: i5-4570 - 169.51
    Mboard: ASUS H87I-PLUS - 98.00
    GPU: ASUS Radeon R9 270 - 169.74
    RAM: 8GB, 1600, Crucial - 64.01
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB - 51.92
    SSD: Samsung 120GB, SSD 840 - 74.99
PSU: be quiet! Pure Power 500w - 58.82

Hardwareversand Total inc delivery - 789.60

To be honest this is already above my budget but I think its worth it.

Any suggestions or changes ye would recommend?

Personally I'd drop the SSD and use the money left over for a better GPU and then get a SSD at a later stage, just a thought though :)

Modified your build a bit to fit a 760 gtx in and got the price down.

Make sure that 760 fits the case. Not sure if it does.

    Prices got through geizhals.

Corsair Obsidian Series 250D mit Sichtfenster, Mini-ITX, ohne Netzteil|€82.00

    Thanks BloodBath, looks good.

I was looking at that GTX760 alright. Seems like a beast of a card. It also fits that case with a bit of room to spare surprisingly :).

I used to build pcs regularly, but haven't built one in 10 years. The last few years I've been sticking to console and hi end laptop gaming but I've been thinking about building a gaming rig for a while now. Nothing insanely quick. I'm not bothered about playing everything on off the scales ultra settings but at the same time something which will have a bit of longevity. With that GTX760 I'm fairly confident I'll get a couple of years out of it before having to upgrade.

    No problem man.

Looking at the boards that Asus one seems expensive since it has no wifi. For around the same price you could get this. 2 less sata ports but it does have bluetooth and wifi built in.

If you don't need bluetooth or wifi there are cheaper alternatives than the Asus if you don't mind sacrificing a couple of sata ports.

I'd maybe throw a cpu cooler in to keep the noise down as well. This is a decent budget option. If you want to spend a bit more get a 212 evo. The sella fan needs to be manually set to around 50% to be quiet.

I don't need wifi or btooth and I'm a bit off ASUS fanboy :) I've always loved their build quality and stability.

I was thinking of getting a better CPU fan also so thanks for that suggestion.

All I have to do now is sell my laptop to fund my new project!

    Just a quick update folks...

Ended up going with a standard sized case in the end - corsair 330r (silent build).

All the other components are fairly standard - FX6300, Asus M5A99x motherboard, 8gb corsair vengeance RAM, MSI R9 270, Seasonic 550W PSU, 1TB seagate hd.

One quite annoying gripe though. I ended up going with an FX6300 cpu and when I opened the box I noticed some of the outside row pins at each corner of the chip were bent in. The cpu wouldn't slot into the socket as a result so I had to painstakingly straighten the pins. It was either that or go through a potentially lengthy returns ordeal.

Its all up and running without a hitch now though thankfully!
