I have to put new chainrings on my ultegra 6600 cranks, toying with the idea of putting 52 36 on, but am having difficulty finding that combo in ultegra chainrings. I can get a 52 but not the 36, my question is - can i mix chainring brands, what probs can i run into. I can get the 36 in an FSA chainring. Thanks for your time, any info/tips/advice greatly appreciated.

Once it's the small ring, and the bcd matches then I can't see a problem.

Don't think you'll get a 36 on there fella. I have gone down this road myself, the new 6800 is the only one that can take the 36 afaik. You suould get a 38 on there but doubt you will find much difference from the 39. I have an Fsa k force 36/52 if your interested.

I run a Stronglight 52/36 combo on a Shimano 105 110 bcd spider. I cannot vouch for the 6600 crank, but the Stronglight rings work well if you can get/fit them.
