Tough fight for Canelo.Could have picked an easier comeback fight.

Definitely. If Angulo could get to Lara he can get to Canelo. I have to give Canelo his dues for making this fight, it's the sort of fight he needs to win to get respect I think.

Canelo will take this guy apart.

I suspect so too. He has too much class and has enough power to keep Angulo 'honest'. I'd be surprised if it went the distance (though Canelo can be a little too patient at times).

Canelo's boxing skills and defence are probably not praised enough. Angulo will find this out, but also, he will be tagged a hell of a lot by Canelo.

Rooting for Angulo in this one! I'm a huge Canelo fan but I feel he needs to slow down a little if he's going to have and longevity in his career. Angulo is an excellent power puncher and is always in an exciting fight! He's also extremely likeable and I think Virgil Hunter will devise an excellent plan for him to deal with Canelo.

Golden Boy really need the right result in this one. Mares and Broner both bit the dust last year and Canelo losing to Angulo would seriously derail him.

Anyone know when the weight was moved up to 155lbs?

Here's a link to episode 2 of all access

Renegotiated the weight up to 155 the morning of the weigh in as Canelo's team said he had too much trouble getting down to 154.

This is some real shady sh*t from GBP. Changing the 'agreed' limit so their fighter wouldn't miss weight as if that's supposed to fool people. I hope Angulo knocks him out after this stunt.

I know ounces can be hard to shift let alone lbs, but a 1 lb allowance sounds odd. If asking for an allowance at this weight then surely 2-3 lbs would be more believable? Asking for 1 lb would be more likely for the lower weight boxers.

What time is this on here?

Could be a very bad fight for Canelo to struggle with weight. He has tended to fight in spots and gas early in his career to date. Angulo fights every minute of every round. It'll be an interesting gauge of Canelo's power tonight. Angulo can be hurt but Canelo's going to have to come up with the shots to do it.

    Good point.

I smell contraversy if angulo does not win convincingly.

Looking forward to the Santa Cruz fight more so. Belter written all over it!

    Starting now.
Sitting through a power outage the last hour here, comes back on just as that lad is singing the anthem.

This is very impressive from Canelo. Very one-sided round 1.

More of the same in the second. Very one-sided.

Jesus, Angulo is tough. While he landed a few more there, in doing so he took even bigger punches.

Canelo is beautiful to watch against the right opponent.

    All Canelo so far

After 5 rounds, you have to admire Angulo. He's even managing to come on a bit here, though it could be more a case of Canelo not throwing as much. Is he tiring?

I have every round Canelo. What about you? Angulo landing very little

    Good round 8.

Some really good action there. Canelo definitely tiring, but still landing the far more effective blows. Angulo still coming though. He's one tough bast*rd.

Every round Canelo also, but it's more entertaining each round.

I think the stoppage was fair. He was taking more and more punishment and never looked like winning since round 8. Canelo was beginning to play with him and his own corner was even telling him before that round that they were thinking of stopping it.

I suppose so. Just a shock. On the replay that was a heavy shot.
68% of Canelos power punches landing
EDIT: More i look at replays, i agree with you. Some serious shots taken by angulo, he as tough as nails

Are you seeing these fights on Boxnation or some other 'medium'. Interested to know how much Boxnation costs per month?

As I thought Canelo took the punch bag apart. Angulo just had no fire in his shots. Very little zip. The stoppage was bang on. They guy was taking too much and he was not going to turn it around.

Another boxer with great punch variation was Paul Butler last night. He looked impressive but Id like to see him step up in opposition.

I agree, I've been sweet on him for quite a while now and I really believe he has what it takes to go all the way. Very skilful, very intelligent, seems to have what it takes.

It's definitely time to step it up in terms of opposition.
