After NROLFW

Just wondering what program anyone who finished with NROLFW is doing now and how you find it?

I'm not sure what to do. In terms of objectives, I'd like to improve my squat. Any suggestions on programs to read up on?

Does NROLFW contain as specific program, or even a template?
I've looked online but anytime I've tried to google it I get sites to buy the book, or people experiences with it rather than what the actually rules/program is

I think it does but it's shrouded in secrecy so you've got to buy his book, which is fine, but ironic, in that one of his most famous books plagiarises almost line for line some of Ian King's material.

Anyway, if you're goal is to improve your squat and you haven't already, go to a good trainer or coach and make sure you've got decent technique before throwing any significant weight on your back.

If I'm right NROLFW is based around a goblet or dumbell squat? If it is, squatting with a bar on your back is a different animal. (I'm only basing that from a quick leaf through the book though)

Nah you do back squats in NROLFW.

I'm following NROLFW with New Rules of a Lifting Supercharged - log here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057141723 . I like it so far - there's plenty of flexibility in terms of what actual exercises you do in each stage & there are progressions in each exercise so you're always challenged.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll give Starting Strength a go. The structure of it, from the bit of reading I've done, seems simpler than NROLFW, and I think I'd like to try something different from that for a while.

@Stench Blossoms - what's the program you're doing now or is it one designed by a trainer?

@Mellor - I've never seen an online template for NROLFW.

@cmyk - you squat from day 1 in NROLFW. I think I'm right in saying there is some kind of squat or deadlift in every workout. I'll definitely be going back to a trainer though. I had a couple of sessions with a trainer last year. He said my squat was fine but I'm still unconvinced about my talent in this area... Deadlifting though, I could do this all day!

I started Starting Strength after finishing NROLFW. After a few weeks I noticed my lifts were stalling and some imbalance issues were creeping in, so the trainer in my gym suggested a cycle of conditioning and single leg stuff. I'm starting back into SS tomorrow.

My biggest difficulty with it is that it's so stripped down compared to Alwyn C's stuff and I began adding extra stuff in - prob why I wasn't making any progress! I had been increasing the weights consistently during NROL so maybe I also just needed a break. I'm going to stick to the program this time :-)

Anyway, my point is, it depends on what you're looking for. If you need a lot of variety to keep you motivated, then maybe SS isn't the best option. If you like the 5 main lifts and want to increase your number on them, then it probably is. Good luck!

Hanley's writes my programs for me.
